A win is a win but the shine is a bit off the rose for me on this team. It's clear that, similar to last year, we have to shoot our way to wins and we don't have the same horses without Elliot. Some early thoughts:
  • Man do we owe Hinson. Can you imagine what this team would look like if he didn't come back? He looks like an all american. It' snot just the 22 PPG. 5 rebounds, 48% from the field, 47% from 3? The only soft spot right now is the FT shooting. Can't really mention turnovers because he only has one assist but it's been forever since we've had a scorer like this.
  • Carrington needs to play a little less hero ball and Capel needs to start holding him accountable. When your shot isn't falling, taking contested long 2s and 3s early in the clock makes no sense.
  • The front court problem is going to need to be addressed. I THINK the answer is more Jeffress but then you're taking some shooting off the court with twins, even if they aren't sharp shooters. IN FIFTY FOUR MINUTES OF GAME TIME LAST NIGHT FEDERICO AND THE TWINS COMBINED FOR THREE REBOUNDS.
  • We have a few days to figure some new things out against SCSU and then whatever Purdue FW is (WTF?). This team will not be able to figure it out on their own on the court like last year's team.
  • One more note on Carrington - for everyone "celebrating" that's not a one and done anymore, don't forget NIL. This could be his only year at Pitt.
