Back in November of 2011 -- in the face of withering condemnation and ridicule even from among other Pitt pals -- I began to point out that the movement of events in State College was leading to an implosion of the "Holier than everyone else / We Are / JoPa-is-God" narrative. That happened, in fact. In spectacular fashion. In spite of cornered-rat machinations of the most intense of the (admittedly) enormous legions of The Cult, there will NEVER be a restoration of that reputation. That can't be tolerated by the many PSU alums who allow substantial portions of their personal identities to have been built on their psychic affiliation with that heroic construct.

The trials when they happen will strip away any of the veneer left of The Cult. The NCAA's clumsy handling of the original findings of the events - motivated by the findings of the Commonwealth of PA and the Freeh Report - have ironically given The Cult a Red Herring... a Pyrrhic victory to excoriate the few adults involved in this mess. From USS Steel ex-CEO John Surma (then the Chairman of the PSU Board of Regents) on down, the PSU leadership have confronted the realities of the evidence. It is likely that many of them were likewise "aware" of the Sandusky rumors... but equally likely that it was an abstraction to them. They, particularly, were only periodic participants in the oversight of PSU.

But their review of the facts, and the acceptance of the penalties handed down, have made them the Quislings of The Cult. "How could you! You traitors! Don't you know that 'We Are...'"

I'm predicting that the "Red Herring" phase of this mess -- giving hope to The Cult that their comprehensive belief in their unique exceptionalism as Penn Stater's -- will, in fact, serve as the final lancing of the boil on the whole mess when the TRIALS reveal the depth of the cover-up.

Look - Sandusky just happened to "retire" in 1998? When the original investigation into this started?? Then he hangs around PSU, with access to the highest chambers of power, for the next decade before the evidence burst again... but no one "knew"??

Who can hide that? Really? In an era when crimes against children are among the central justice foci of this culture?

Honestly, WHAT trial? All of them or just some of them? There seems to be so many now in constant limbo that I don't understand what "no more PSU trial delays" even means.

I assume he means the main trial of the 3 stooges. Spanier. Shultz and Curley.

Look.....I think "the fix is in".

JoePa's dead.
Fines levied and paid.
Jerry's in Jail.
Sanctions lifted.
Victims paid.

People want this thing over. I think this will be some fluff stuff but it will not reveal anything behind the curtain that hasn't already been revealed. I am not saying there wasn't a cover up of massive proportion, I am just saying that I feel they think the damage is done, the healing begun and no one is interested in reopening wounds.

Just my opinion, but I think these trials will be fluff and nothing really happens except be admonished for not taking this seriously.

Agree
Jerry In Jail - last of the victims settling - fix is in - it's all pretty much over.
I can see some sort of settlement "we admit to nothing but regret what happened - the devil made me do it"
Everybody gets a pile of money and that's it.

At least the joebots will be entertaining for a few more years.

The Boston marathon bombing occurred in April of 2013 and by April of 2015, the trail phase of the federal justice prosecution was concluded. verdict GUILTY.

3 people were killed and approximately 264 others were injured in that unholy act.

On November 1, 2012, the Pennsylvania AG's office announced that a grand jury had returned a superseding indictment against Curley and Schultz. The indictment added additional charges of child endangerment, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. Spanier was also indicted for allegedly covering up Sandusky's crimes.

More than 2.5 years have gone by and still trial is not set...

You can draw your own conclusions as you see fit, but the Boston bombing criminal prosecution had as many, if not more, unique questions of law as does the pending trial of the Penn State 3.

But the delay in PA is as predictable as the location of the sunrise.

My conclusion is that justice delayed is justice denied....justice in central Pennsylvania is a relative concept.

I wouldn't bury my dog in that perverted soil.

Exactly. The more distance from the original events, the less they know the public will have an appetite for this and they can quietly.

Why should it go to trial if its an accepted part of your society. I just saw per the daily collegian, that 22 sexual assaults were reported since Jan 12. They are just keeping with the norm. Rape is no big deal at Penn State. Why should a coverup be?

The World would be a much better place if the JoePED CULT members did a Jim Jones en-mass Kool-Aid session and joined the beloved Cult leader in paradise!

Penn State student sexually assaulted in an outdoor area on campus
By Natalie Weston | Collegian Staff Writer | Posted 9 hours ago

A sexual assault, which allegedly occurred early Friday morning in an outdoor area on campus, marks the 22nd reported sexual assault or possible sexual assault since Penn State's spring semester began on Jan. 12.

A male, who is known to the woman assaulted, allegedly assaulted a female student, Penn State Police said.

The incident occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. in a grassy area near the Katz Building on the north side of campus, adjacent to Park Avenue and Bigler Road, police said.

Penn State Police received the report at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, they said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Re: Many Developments!

The biggest development is Judge Hoover that was assigned the trial after an exhausting 20 Judge Search for a Judge that took no Penn State Tickets has fallen ill and is on Medical Leave, on a serious note. His cases are being divided up by the remaining Judges.

Even with a New Judge, Defendants Interlocutory Appeals better known as Interim Appeals are still allowed and are being decided in upper Appeal courts and could delay and impact on the Criminal Trials.

There are also some serious developments on Judges and Prosecutors exchanging information during trials on unrelated cases to the Penn State Cases but originate right in Centre County and that could mean it was happening in many cases. The ACLU has become involved now?

Additionally, the surround controversies involving AG Kane Grand Jury Leaks, Discovery of Prosecutors-Judicial Pornographic Emails that have a Stay on their release by an Unnamed Judge in an Unnamed proceeding is also clouding and provided much uncertainty and ethical issues along with new Grand Jury Investigations.

Even Senator Corman, the Savior of Paterno Wins Settlement with the NCAA is coming under fire after it was revealed the Commonwealth Taxpayers & Penn State picked up the legal bills and court costs for the NCAA and cost $13,500 Per Every Paterno's Restored (111) Wins as well as paying for lawyers not retained by Penn State or the Commonwealth?

The cost of the Penn State Scandal has exceeded the Commonwealth Penn State Budget Contribution and that still does not include Insurance Companies Claims they will seek to null and void later and could make Penn State reimburse all or part of those costs including the Defense Lawyers for the Penn State Three?

As stated before, I respect and admire State Senator Corman, but I predicted this kind of situation can become a Blowback upon him even as he had the best intentions to do the right thing.

Now some New Trustees and PS4RS as well as Blehar, Bagwell, and Zeigler are revealing it was Senator Corman that was on The Board Of Directors of The Second Mile created by Gerry Sandusky that got a Commonwealth Free Grant of $3 Million to build The Second Mile New Headquarters Building? As well as, raised over $600,000 for AG Corbett run for Governorship during the Sandusky investigation and The Second Mile was never investigated by Corbett's or Kelly's AG Office?

There is still not one ounce of any Public Required By Law Clery & Title IX Report that is now over a year overdue either and that does not happen without Political involvement?

BEFORE CLERY/TITLE IX NON-COMPLIANCE AT PENN STATE:

images
^AFTER FREEH RECOMMENDATIONS & NCAA OVERSIGHT COMPLIANCE^

All I know, is all these Grand Jury Investigations, Political and Judicial Scandals, Criminal, Civil Trials and Appeals, along with Penn State University Board of Trustees turmoil and now further allegations and investigations as well as the rehabilitation and restoration of a dead coach legacy, is now mixed in with the election of 18 candidates for Supreme Court Judges Vacancies and the rumors, innuendo, and partial truths to mislead and bleed over them is just adding to all the confusion.

I will post more next week with links!

Re: Many Developments!

You said it all - "turmoil". What a mess Pa government is. From the judges to the AG - nothing but disgrace and problems.

The most notable thing is the lack of the final Clery Report.
The initial one came out over two years ago???
Maybe they are planning one big report - fining 30 - 40 schools at once to make a bigger point?
Just have to wait and see.

Your Corman info is very interesting.
The suit against the NCAA was a waste of time - especially the way it was settled.
Are you saying we as taxpayers footed part of that bill??? That's just pathetic. I thought some Joebot ponied up the money.

One of these days I'm going to tally up the costs of the whole scandal.
Your figure of 13,500/ restored win will be a pittance.

I expect a cost of close to 1 million for each of Paturdos wins

still pisses me off that paterno died when he did. Would have given anything to see that piece of filth indicted.

$13,500 per win...? From the taxpayers?...what a disgrace...

Absolute shameful disgrace....if that's what's going on...even if its only partially taxpayer money....PLENTY in the state of Pa could give a flying #$%@ about restoring that jackasses wins...

Re: $13,500 per win...? From the taxpayers?...what a disgrace...

Are we the taxpayers seriously footing the bill on the wins ?

Re: Penn State Pays Big Price For Restoring Joe Paterno's Wins, LINK!

PENNLIVE LINK:
Penn State pays big price for restoring Joe Paterno's wins:

The cost of the legal battle that restored Joe Paterno's status as the winningest coach in major college football, with 409 total wins, didn't come cheap.

It is expected to figure out to about $13,500 for each of the 111 wins Paterno's team achieved from 1998 on.

Attorney fees and related bills associated with the litigation filed against the NCAA by Sen.Rob McCord are expected to reach $1.5 million, said Corman spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher.

"It was a complicated case with much of the discovery etc. taking place out of state so the costs added up," Kocher said.

The lawsuit, which was resolved through an out-of-court agreement, initially sought to keep the $60 million fine Penn State was required to pay to assist victims of child sexual abuse in Pennsylvania.

It turned into the Freeh report findings.

To date, Corman has received a bill for $320,000, Kocher said. Since McCord agreed to split the bill, she assumed Treasury received a bill for an equal amount. Attempts to confirm that with the Treasury department on Friday were unsuccessful.

Both Corman and Treasury are expected to pass those bills on to Penn State, which spokeswoman Lisa Powers said university has agreed to pay.

Corman's office has been assured those bills would be paid with non-tuition dollars, Kocher said.

In addition to restoring the victories for Paterno to give him 409 wins as well as one more victory that came in the post-Paterno era in 2011, the two-year court fight also removed the probationary period imposed on Penn State, the unprecedented scholarship and transfer rules, and achieved the initial goal of ensuring the $60 million fine was spent on child protection programs in Pennsylvania.

Penn State Offered To Pay Legal Bills In NCAA Case For Lawyers It Never Hired, LINK!

Penn State wasn't the one to file the lawsuit against the NCAA over sanctions imposed against the university, but Penn State willingly offered to pick up the legal bills for those who did.

A source familiar with the negotiations that led to the January settlement of that lawsuit filed by Sen. Jake Corman, R-Centre County, and former state Treasurer Rob McCord, said on Monday the university put the offer on the table as a way to facilitate the case's closure.

As a result, Penn State is expected to be hit with legal bills amounting to about $1.5 million for costs incurred by lawyers Corman and McCord hired. To date, the university has received bills for about half that amount with the rest still to come.

The state officials filed the lawsuit to force the NCAA to abide by a state law that restricted the $60 million fine against Penn State to be spent on child protection programs in Pennsylvania. The suit later was broadened to challenge the validity of all the sanctions imposed by the NCAA over the university's handling of theFreeh Report's findings.

Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers, who responded by email, didn't directly answer the question about why the university offered to pay Corman and McCord's legal bills.

Instead, she said Penn State President Eric Barron believed "this agreement was a fair compromise that was good for Penn State and everyone involved."

She said no taxpayer, donor or tuition dollars will be used to cover the legal bills. Instead, it will rely on money generated from internal loans to cover the bill.

The settlement of this case restored 112 wins for the football team from 1998 on - reviving keeping the $60 million fine money in Pennsylvania, with $12 million of that being retained by Penn State.

When it came to a discussion about who would pay the state officials' legal bills, a source said the NCAA made it clear it wasn't making any payment to any party involved in the case. Attempts to reach the NCAA for comment about that were unsuccessful on Monday.

Corman took a hard-line stance about the legal bills as well. He was adamant that the money to pay them would not be coming out of Senate funds from taxpayers, said his spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher.

"We said we wouldn't settle until someone takes care of the legal costs," she said. "This is when Penn State came forward."

Christopher Craig, chief counsel at Treasury, declined to speculate on why Penn State picked up the tab. Keith Masser, chairman of the Penn State trustees, did not respond to a message seeking comment.

But alumni trustee Anthony Lubrano, who supported the settlement but has come to regret his affirmative vote, said the offer to pay the legal bills is another sign of what he considers a troubling mindset Penn State has adopted about its role in the Sandusky scandal.

"That's just another indication that we adopted a policy of pay and move on," he said. "That's how desperate we have been to get this behind us. The truth be damned. Let's just get this done."
