I really don't think they planned this.that the brackets are set up so only 2 ACC teams can make the final 4. If all 4 teams get thru to the elite 8 there are 2 head on heads.
Probably not. They didn’t appear to spend much time thinking about the ACC.I really don't think they planned this.
there used to be a little more effort to place teams from the same conference in different regions. You'd think computer algorithms could figure this out
On the other hand.... it would guarantee the ACC half of the final four.that the brackets are set up so only 2 ACC teams can make the final 4. If all 4 teams get thru to the elite 8 there are 2 head on heads.
Glass half full kinda guy!On the other hand.... it would guarantee the ACC half of the final four.
So now we end up with two ACC teams in the west. That doesnt help your point. They did add pods so you can play closer to home in the early rounds and not be tied into feeding into a particular regional. There used to be a rule that the top three teams from any conference had to be put into different regions. But as conferences keep getting bigger, it's harder to do that maintain the integrity of the seeds. And some of the schools didn't like it, because if you were the third ACC team for example, that might mean that you had to go to a regional out west rather than playing much closer to home, because the two higher seeded ACC teams got the better locations.
