The Whitehead as Safety thing

Playmakers are at a premium so Pitt can't really afford to be picky about position limitations. CB, Safety, second wideout, 3rd down receiving back, anything should be considered for JW.

And true for the rest of core top tier players. Any creative way to get Boyd more touches should be pursued. The Conner as pass rush specialist should be given some consideration if our situation there is a dire as it seems. Heck, how about Holtz at LB. He'd probably immediately be our toughest one. And he's largely being wasted at TE.

Hell, Voytik looks like he could be a tough safety in the Vinopal mode for that matter. When was the last full time two-way QB/DB in major college ball ...

Ok, maybe the last one goes too far, but hey, Rick Trocano did it.

Here is a good article on it... and as always, if it is a good article about Pitt, it isnt coming from PG or Trib :)

Sounds like Whitehead just wants on the field
Duzzi has made it clear that he will put his best 22 out there. He will move the DBs around as necessary. I think Whitehead's future is at corner, but that doesn't mean his present isn't at safety. That is interesting though,. because I thought Whitehead would contend for early PT at CB opposite Pitts, Narduzzi likes those long rangy guys at CB. Obviously Maddox and whoever else we have at CB must be holding their own pretty well in the coaches' eyes.

It may be a great article, but a subscription is required to read it. Why post a link to a restricted access site? I could also be a moron, and there is a way around the subscription.
