VB - Torrey Stafford

This is a 'high five' and shout out to Torrey Stafford. Tonight.....against Wake Forest.....she had another stellar performance.....483 Hitting %.....16 kills....1 ace....3 blocks.....10 digs....and scored 18.5 points. That's a game ball performance. I point this out because she has yet to win the ACC Offensive Player Of The Week award by the ACC. The ACC can boast that they have 5 athletes that have been nominated by the NCAA as finalists for National Player Of The Year award. Each one of these 5......except for Torrey....has been named by the ACC for one of their weekly awards.
  • Olivia.....3 times as Offensive Player of the Week
  • Rachel.....3 times as Setter of the Week
  • Kami Minor....Stanford....3 times as setter of the week
  • Elena Scott....Louisville...3 times as Defensive Player of the Week
  • Torrey....not once
I will be cheering loudly for her to follow up with another outstanding match on Sunday against NC State and win the recognition she deserves. To conclude....I'll just echo a comment from a poster on the Volley Talk Board (and it wasn't me).....'it is criminal that Torrey Stafford has not been named yet by the ACC as offensive player of the week'.
May I also add, IMHO, Pitt has 3 players who are emotionally solid as a rock during competitive matches.

And on the shoulders of these 3, Fish has built his #1 team in the nation.

Again, I'm talking about being counted upon to be stable under the greatest of pressure and deliver results.

They are:
1. Rachel Fairbanks
2. Emmy Klicka
3. Torrey Stafford

As a result, Liv, Bre, Ryla, VVG can play freely and allow their immense natural talent to flow.

Pitt -1.4 vs Wisc

Pitt 23.10
Wis 18.30
4.8

That isn't the way that it works. The overall numbers are based on a 100 possession game, so you can't just subtract one from the other. The score prediction comes from comparing one team's offensive versus the other teams defense and vise-versa, and then accounting for the number of possessions he is predicting.

Right now he has the predicted score 77-73 Pitt.

VB: @ Wake Forest, 11/22/24 - Match Info

Many head coaches like to prepare, in advance, for unexpected circumstances (such as injuries).

IMHO, Fish is giving Nisa a chance to play (and excel) so that she and her teammates will already know that they can be successful, should the need arise.
Don't disagree, but it will be interesting to see how much PT Nisa gets on Sunday - especially if NC State makes the sets "interesting"
