Wednesday is such a huge match

We destroyed PSU and yet ranked close behind us. I don't follow them, but curious as why they are so highly ranked.

Why are they ranked so high? They are 27-2. The two losses are both on the road, to RPI ranked teams 2 and 7. And they have wins over RPI 3, 10, 15, 17, 21 and 15 again. Plus several other teams that are just outside the top 25.

In some ways we should be happy that they are that highly rated. Because we destroyed them, so at this point there is almost no chance we drop below them. Which means as of right now our absolute bottom is about number three.

So Bell is interviewing at Oklahoma?

Danny Etling & Myles Brennan at QB. That wasn't exactly one of LSU's most talented teams on that side of the ball. Justin Jefferson was literally a nobody 2-star recruit & barely saw the field as a true freshman when Canada was there.
13 future draft picks on that offense 2 deep including 4 RBs. So loaded a sophomore named Leonard Fournette was buried on the bench. 5 future NFL receivers including DJ Chark (22 YPC) and a young Jefferson. A NFL TE. 3 future NFL Ols.

And, notably, they had a disappointing 9 win season and canned Canada.

If someone ever assembled that level of roster at Pitt they’d build a statue of him. Not since Sherrill has Pitt ever had anything close to that on one roster.

Try again.

Bottom Line

IMHO, Dunn's defense is the biggest loss. Also, Team 3-ball shooting has not been good Percentage-wise last few games.

Need to correct/compensate for this by, hopefully, getting Delalic shooting more and making more 3s at a high percentage even if he is weaker on defense than Dunn.

Also, to provide bench rest/relief for Lowe and Leggett there is a need to get Cummings to improve his defensive play. That will require more PT for him.

Both of the above should be possible and eventually pay dividends.

Delalic is giving us point, assist, and rebound production in his limited time, but the sample size is still small. There were multiple times yesterday when Delalic was wide open and our guards refused to pass him the ball. Wisconsin was collapsing on dribble penetration in the 2nd half and Delalic was literally standing there waving his arms around from the 3 point line. The guards need to start looking for him and understand he is shooting 50% from 3 this year and has made at least 1 three ball in every single game he has played in. The guy can shoot, we need to get him far more looks. Elliot was a stand still shooter and still took 7.5 shots per game. And he cashed in at over 40% from 3. There is a learning adjustment since this guy missed almost 2 months of practice time and he is getting used to his teammates and vice versa. But for petes sake, the easiest assist in the game last year was a pass to Hinson for 3. One of the easiest assists 2 years ago was a pass to Elliot just waiting to shoot an open 3. The guards could rake in more assists just giving it to him to shoot.

Cummings needs to get going on offense. I dont know and understand why he is playing so timid on offense. He can drive the ball, he's excellent in the midrange off the bounce, and all he wants to do this year is stand there behind the 3 point line and shoot 3s as a stand still shooter. Almost 70% of his entire shot attempts are from 3. Its like he is scared to drive it or just wants Lowe and Leggett to do everything. He's not playing his game on offense and I dont understand it. He isnt turning it over which is great, but he has to be a bigger part of the offense as a guard. Cummings is shooting a killer 82% this year from long midrange all the way in. Yet all he wants to do is shoot 3s and is shooting them at 25%.

The player combinations next game will be interesting. Delalic played almost or maybe all of his time with Austin and none with Guillermo last game which I found interesting. And the Jorge / Cummings combo needs to end. Guillermo would do a better job finding Delalic than Austin because Austin doesn't pass well. A big part of the game plan against Ohio State is going to be constantly attacking the interior.

Congratulations to Coach Franklin

Didnt see it and I dont ever think refs knowingly cheat but in these instances, human nature kicks in. You cannot make a 50/50 call or a 40/60 call to go against your employer. If there's any doubt, you side with your employer. I mean can you imagine making a legit bad call that keeps PSU out of the CFP. That costs your employer tens of millions. And this is why I say time after time that it should be like basketball. Referees shouldn't be employees of a conference.

This is so obviously true, and clearly the reason why Alabama beat Oklahoma this weekend. And Ole Miss beat Florida. And BYU beat Arizona State. And Texas A&M beat Auburn. And Colorado beat Kansas. Why I'll bet if these refs weren't cheating, either consciously or unconsciously, at least one of those games would have ended up in an upset.

Wait a second...
