Over on the Volleytalk Proboards site they were bitching about that....and most of these volleyball addicts aren't even Pitt fans. That was definitely a match worthy of a larger platform than ACCN extra. In fairness to the other revenue sports, though, a Friday night during football season is not the night to have a volleyball event of this magnitude. Better that this game would've been on Sunday and the ND game on Friday, perhaps ...
Thanks for the shout out, and what a first volleyball match to see live! It must've been crazy there. This was our first volleyball match, very much still learning the game but damn was that fun.
Shout to Chairman Moe for the earlier learning volleyball post, very much helped.
I was expecting for it to be a stress free night for me as I did think I would be that vested in the program. I was wrong, crowd was amazing. My voice was horse from Thursday nights game and there I am cheering again just as hard as with football. It's going to take Saturday of watching college ball and good bourbon to recover. We'll definitely do more games but not back to back nights with football games. At this stage of life I struggle with a late night, a few hours sleep, to work, back down to the Burgh and another late drive home.
Anyhow, a great time and congratulations to the girls.
H2P!!
That makes sense...thanks!I believe this is the official visit weekend for the 2026 class, so that’s why they’re all there

We have yet to to see the best of Bre. She is still coming around from her ankle injury from last year. She sits when she comes out. Also, the backrow D was less than usual. Louisville was simply superior in this area. Scott gets everything up that is within reach. If Bre Kelley doesn't have the career game she had....hit .500....18 points...1 error.....we lose....it's that simple.

on the either network. Instead they have a no thrills Men's Soccer game and I love soccer.
They had an opportunity to showcase these two programs on national TV and they blew it.
H2P on a great win!!!!
Thanks for the info about the recruits who were in attendance last night. Happy to hear that.Awesome win and a handful of recruits were in attendance to witness it. I saw Emch from 2025 & Sageer, Watson, Thompson, and Hoppe from 2026 all sitting together immediately behind the Zoo.
Fisher lit into the team in Set 3 at 15-12 or around there - he was really annoyed with the defense on the offspeed attacks from Louisville. May have also been irked with the conversion on crosscourt attacks, also.
They outdug us, outkilled us, and outassisted us again and yet we keep pulling out wins over them. Their errors continually are their undoing - we were +15 in errors. Their fans are crying about refereeing, but they continually make errors at pivotal points, as we all saw.
Kiana Dinn is finally off crutches & walking free. Fisher mentioned in his Penn State pre-game chalk talk that she wouldn't be out for the season. Doubt we'll see her this year, but putting it on the radar, in the event we do.
Sophomore class now 3-1 against the Cardinals...
SMU “Pony Express” backfield: Eric Dickerson and Craig James.Who remembers the 1983 Cotton Bowl. SMU beat Pitt 7 to 3, I think. Dickerson was the running back for SMU and Pitt had the ball on about the 2 yard line and was about to score. Then a fumble - turnover.
I agree 100%Then Pitt needs to quit touting 9 national championships. We had 1, according to your criteria since we didn't play "real" football
If Bre Kelley doesn't have the career game she had....hit .500....18 points...1 error.....we lose....it's that simple.Agree with your previous post and this one. Sub Nisa in for Babcock's serve, then bring Liv right back in. Keep Fairbanks in unless they go on a run against her block, then spot sub Bayless. Fairbanks is just SO much better than Nisa, you can't keep her out that long. Nisa's sets were to obvious and too low so no chance of hitting the tops of the blockers' hands. Nisa also ignored the middle blockers, and as you stated, she's just too slow. It worked out, but that doesn't mean it should become the norm. Louisville's serving errors were a big boost in the 5th set.
Was a fun and stressful match. Pitt needs to watch the tape and see the tipping tendancies, and defend those better.
H2P
I gotta say I hated sticking with the 6-2 at the end of the 5th and still think it was the wrong decision despite winning on the net error. You can’t leave your best players on the bench in crunch time. And Nisa’s lack of foot speed was hurting us badly at times. Yes she had some great moments and I was all for her serving instead of Babcock late in the sets but I would’ve only gone 6-2 for that one rotation and put Fairbanks and Babcock right back in. But hey, it worked, and we won, so can’t complain too much
Here is Fisher's post game presser.....explains some of his thinking.Agreed that our back row attack was less effective than usual but it’s a huge drop off from Rachel to Nisa in terms of defense and coverage and where the first pass has to go for an effective set. I think that drop off is bigger than the benefit you get from Blaire’s blocking late in a set like that. And Nisa doesn’t disguise her sets as well as Rachel, hence the blocks at the end by Louisville on our pins. So I’d argue the drawbacks outweigh the gains on that move late in the 5th
