Personal for Duzz..

Pat Narduzzi told his players to give him this one game. In a 12-game season, 11 belong to the players and the assistant coaches, but Narduzzi needed this one.

“I asked them on Tuesday to go get one for my dad out there. Just try to make it personal,” Narduzzi said. “They took the challenge and went out there and tattooed them pretty good. My dad would be fired up as he was watching up there.”

OT: Steelers Offense

We had to get rid of Kenny Pickett for this?????

29th in total offense. 30th in passing offense. 25th in scoring offense. 27th in pass completions. 29th in yards per play. 32nd in touchdowns. 29th in red zone offense. 28th in 1st downs per play, and 28th in rush yards per attempt.

1 total touchdown in 2 games.

260.5 yards per game in 2024. Down from 304.3 yards per game in 2023.

Scoring 15.5 ppg in 2024. Down from "terrible" offenses scoring 18.1 (2022) and 17.8 (2023).

The Steelers are 2-0 but against likely two bottom-10 teams. They're one of only 3 teams to start 2-0 since 1960 scoring only 1 touchdown. The last to do it was the 2000 Lions who went 7-7 the rest of the way. There's simply no way this team is going be able to keep up with Dallas, Philadelphia, KC, and maybe not even Baltimore or Cinci. They're lucky that the Browns are also a trainwreck so that may keep them close.

I can't watch them any more. It's not fun. Even the wins - where you should feel good - are absolutely excruciating and the absolute best case scenario for this team is losing 30-9 to Houston in the playoffs. This is embarrassing.

Rise of the Big East

Who would have thought that after Week 2, some of Pitt's toughest games figure to be Syracuse, Louisville, and Boston College?

Louisville has just played 2 cupcakes so far, so maybe their not as good as they look, but they will be tested with games coming up GA Tech, Notre Dame, Miami, Clemson among others. The Louisville we see later in the year will be much different...maybe more battle tested....maybe beat up.

Syracuse on the other hand...wow, they might just win 10 games this year. Their OOC schedule is an embarrassing Ohio, Holy Cross, UNLV, UCONN. In conference, they have a bit of tough stretch with 4 road games in 5 weeks at NC State/Pitt/BC/Cal. Cuse is capable of winning any of those games but also capable of losing any...so 2-2 in that stretch sets them up to be 9-2 heading into a home season final with Miami, playing for that 10th win.

BC made some effort in the OOC, playing Michigan State and Missouri. Those teams are down, but they sure aren't Holy Cross and UCONN. However, BC got a really soft conference schedule....they don't play Miami, Clemson, NC State, GA Tech. For them it's going to come down to how they fare in their Big East games against Pitt, Louisville, CUSE.

If any of Pitt, CUSE, VILLE, BC claims the mini-Big East championship by sweeping the others, they may well be in position for a #2 seed and spot in the ACC-CG. To which, I'll end up with Miami is a lock for the ACC-CG. Not because I am suddenly a believer in Miami, but their conference schedule is SOFT, especially with Florida St looking a mess.

Tin hat time

I try not to be conspiratorial about stuff, but KDKA just proved again the Cardiac Hill Pitt has to overcome for positive local coverage.

In the same segment, they show Franklin flying in on a helicopter to the Quips-PH game and then the highlight they show of the Brawl previewing Pitt-YSU, they show WVU scoring.

It's stupid and petty for me to care, but talk about bias.

Guess the first touchdown: Pitt-Youngstown State

Nobody called a nine-yard catch by Desmond Reid as Pitt's first touchdown against WVU, so the contest is rolling on to this week.

Can you correctly predict the player, play (run, reception, return, etc.) and yardage of Pitt's first touchdown against Youngstown State? Post your guess in this thread, and if you get it right, you'll get two free months added to your subscription.

Thanks for playing and good luck.
