Pitt Still Needs an Opponent For 2025 Opener

We need an opponent for the opener next August 30. WE tentatively have Central Michigan for Sept.6 at WVU on SEPTEMBER 13 and a still to be determined date with ND probably sometime in OCTOBER or November. It is oblivious that we need to schedule an FCS TEAM so I have compiled a list of openings at this poi. As follows Elon, Charleston Southern, Rhode Island, Towson, Albany of New York, Villanova,William and Mary, Duquesne and LIU. There is also the possibility we can open with the CMU game and schedule an fCS team for SEPT. 20.Teams with openings are Tennessee Tech, Monmouth, Albany, Stony Brook, Forman, THE CitadeL, Austin Peay and Western Carolina. Could this be a match for the Bells. Which would you perfer?

OT, question for golfers

honey stick for the driver. Amateur BS move or not? i bought one off amazon, thinking about it. feel kinda like a scumbag though.

I will tell my partners, we play skins but very low stakes, we end up just buying each other beers at the end. i actually do tend to play by the rules for the most part, this one not withstanding.

what's the consensus? all strongly worded opinions welcome, insults too, just keep em family friendly.

3rd down conversations

@Chris Peak you mentioned that Pitt needed to do better on 3rd down and referenced the stats vs Louisville and WVU. On the surface, I agree. But, did you look up the distance to gain on those 3rd downs?

I haven't but was just wondering if the average was, like, 7.8 yards or something. If the average distance to gain was over 6 yards, I don't know if it is better 3rd down conversation is what is needed or better results on 1st and 2nd.

OT: Partial Knee Replacement

Has anyone else had a partial knee replacement?

I know plenty who have had the total knee replacement, but this is just one area of the knee. No saws, just a grinder, promising to grind away the arthritic areas, 2 plates installed, stainless steel upper, and titanium lower with pad for meniscus replacement.

Inquiring about recovery times, and what to expect as I'm nigh on 70, from anyone who may have had it done.

Thanks

Anyone close to the program know if this is a good thing or bad thing for wrestling? Seems odd that outside of last year the football team was doing well, basketball was making strides, the soccer and volleyball programs have been great. Ive heard that they wanted someone to come in and push NIL a bit harder.

North Carolina Hurricane

I hope this really doesn't go sideways, it likely will. While we play UNC this week, the photos and footage of the devastation in Asheville and Western NC is just mind blowing. Obviously living in Greenville, SC for 5 years, I know the region/area well. Seeing Chimney Rock destroyed, Asheville and all of the communities underwater. All those roads washed away. I know we have some posters on here that live in or near there. Are you guys alright? Can you even log onto things? I mean the infrastructure was devasted for all walks of modern life. I am hearing the death toll could be in the hundreds and hundreds as in an event like this, unlike a hurricane, you don't really plan to evacuate and some of the water just came up so fast, there was nowhere to go.

Anyone following this or live in this region??

El Barto Explosion at UNC? #Mailbag

Is this the week El Barto gets unleashed? I love how successful the WRs have been and don't want to see that change, but when we need an extra gear are we going to see some of those schemes we heard about to get 86 the ball in space?

Honestly, have been hating to see him line up in the wideout position to block.

I am still figuring out this site, don't roast me too hard if this is not the way to get a mailbag question in.

The Morning Pitt: 10/1/2024 - Two key areas where Pitt needs to improve

What were the biggest things Pitt needed to work on during the off week? And where do the Panthers need to improve the most? We're looking at two key areas for Pitt heading into the ACC opener against North Carolina on Saturday.

Ranking the ACC: 10/1/2024

We did an ACC ranking last week, so let's do it again (and maybe we'll do it every week). Here are my rankings; reply with yours - or with criticism of all the things I got wrong.

(Last week in parentheses)

1. Miami (1)
2. Clemson (2)
3. Pitt (3)
4. Louisville (4)
5. Duke (6)
6. Boston College (5)
7. Georgia Tech (7)
8. SMU (12)
9. Cal (8)
10. Syracuse (10)
11. Virginia (11)
12. Stanford (9)
13. North Carolina (13)
14. N.C. State (15)
15. Virginia Tech (14)
16. Wake Forest (16)
17. Florida State (17)

- Obviously the biggest mover is SMU, but that's probably because I had them too low at 12 last week.

- I still think Georgia Tech is a dangerous team, so I'm keeping them at 7 despite being 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. That ranking could change quickly.

- Boston College dropped one spot despite not losing this past weekend, but they're a different - and far less dangerous team - without Thomas Castellanos. That plus Duke's comeback win over UNC led to a swap there.

- The bottom five or so are really a mess. Virginia Tech could have beaten Miami, but the difference between a top team and a bottom team is that the first group wins the "could have" games and the second group doesn't.

- Would FSU beat Wake Forest head-to-head? Probably. But I'm keeping the Seminoles at No. 17 just because.

Video: Lee, Brookins, Biles and Cooper on facing UNC and more

Pitt receiver Censere Lee, safety Cruce Brookins, linebacker Rasheem Biles and center Lyndon Cooper met the media on Tuesday and talked about the off week, North Carolina and a lot more. Here's video of what they said.
