TCU blog says Dixon is first choice

Their source says his buyout is "north of 5 million" which would be a major issue for them but this is where having a really good AD comes into play (though I don't yet know if Barnes is any good or not).

Sean Miller is feeling a little heat. If Barnes can come in and give him a little raise, Arizona may negotiate a lower buyout amount with us so they can go out and hire a bigger name......like Greg Marshall? We can then allow Dixon to go to TCU, eliminating most of his buyout if they'll take him.

Its not that I think Miller is some kind of wonder coach but he's no worse than Dixon and a better recruiter. Miller recruits above his program prestige status. Dixon recruits below our program prestige status. What I mean by that is on a scale of 1 to 10 if Arkansas-Pine Bluff is a 1 and Kentucky is 1 10, Arizona is an 8 and Pitt is a 6. But, Miller is recruiting at a 9 level, at a near-blueblood level while Dixon I recruiting at a 4, at an A10/mid-major level. At Pitt, I think Miller recruits at a a 7, giving us a better chance to do something in March

Guys slow down on jumping off the recruiting bridge. There are several moving parts happening. This was expected in the NIL day. Guys who are committing early are being pushed by other schools. This is expected. We have had 4 decommits. Of the 4 Minchey was a blow. Pollock had potential to be good but it’s hard to get on the field at Pitt in the secondary. Fowler was not highly regarded and Daniels flipped to Pitt on his commitment day.

In addition to the NIL piece there are several other things happening. Pitt now has time to reset their boards and continue to recruit too. Wait and watch guys now have their tape to show they are worthy too.

Staff changes are happening all over the place this time of year. Pitt has several coaches on expiring contracts.

Lastly please wait until signing days over before you blast the class and staff. There will be several changes plus getting super seniors back will also change the landscape too. Pitt football has a plan. Duzz isn’t some idiot who is getting blindsided. Minchey blindsided him yes. Keeping guys like Neal and Bass has been a priority.

College Football is My Favorite Sport, But....

Man, even if you take all this NIL/transfer crap out of the equation, it almost feels like the season is such a flash in the pan with the bowl games becoming meaningless. Twelve games per year isn't many. Two or three (in most years) are already played against FCS/G5 competition: Sorry - I just can't get excited for 90% of those games. So you're already down to around ten games. Of those, how many are you excited to play? Like, I didn't really care about GT (I know what happened) or VT going into the games. And I wouldn't have cared much about the last four anyway, because of where expectations were at versus the fact that we were already eliminated from Coastal contention (or thereabouts), but they were especially lulls because they were against mostly awful teams.

I feel like the bowl games used to be something to look forward to, and it kind of helped to mentally prolong what's a pretty short season already. But now? Just seems like it's hardly worth putting in the effort following this stuff just for 9 or 10 P5 games per season, only half of which are really all that interesting.

It'll probably never happen, but I would love to see the season extended a few weeks and the non-playoff bowls fall by the wayside. Like, give everyone an extra bye week and play 14 games or something. And eliminate the FCS game while you're at it, and make it so that P5 teams can only schedule one G5 opponent. Is that fair? I mean, I know we're currently in a player-empowerment phase, but when do the fans - the consumers of the product who make this whole thing tick - get a little bit of a say in this again?

After avoiding it for almost 3 years.....

I have COVID. Oh joy. The only positive is the others in the house also have it. So it is not like we have to worry about isolating. The sad thing is, because of next week's travel schedules I was making Christmas Dinner on Sunday (Surf and Turf) and now obviously have to cancel this.

I avoided this the entire time. I guess it is inevitable that we all will get it at some point.

Video and transcript: Narduzzi on Sun Bowl opt-outs, opportunities for younger players and more

After several Pitt players announced their decisions to opt out of the Sun Bowl, Pat Narduzzi met the media on Monday to talk about the opt-outs, the NFL, the opportunities Pitt's young players will have and a lot more.

I know it probably not a popular thing here in Pittsburgh, but...

...Congratulations to the Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin on scoring the 798th, 799th and 800th goal of his NHL career. That puts him one behind Gordie Howe for second place and 94 behind Wayne Gretzky for the Number 1 spot.
A tremendous accomplishment by one of the best players to every play the game.
Congratulations to "The Great 8"!!!

OT: Pitt Soccer Recruiting help?

Hey Gang
So long story short I moved to Brasil a year ago. In my time I have met some parents with children who high level soccer players here but none that would qualify for a US university. I met one kid through a family friend and he is an excellent defender. He is only 17 he has been asked to join the Valencia F.C. juniors team but his mother doesn't want him to pass on an education. He is playing at a boarding school in Paraguay.

I naturally have a bias towards Pitt and told him they have a good team. He has film from his high school career so far and film from his time with Valencia. He wants to send his film to someone, does anyone have a contact at Pitt that will actually respond to an email? You can respond here or DM me.
