Let’s build an “on-campus” stadium at CMU’s Gesling Field

Mary Schenley stipulated it could never be sold. I believe anything built on it has to be available for use by the public. That said, Pitt received special permission to build the Frick Fine Arts building on the edge of Schenley Park. I believe there are stipulations that it must be available...

Does the Big East remain intact if 13-9 doesn't happen?

No. The only thing that could have saved the Big East (maybe), was Notre Dame joining in football.

Let’s build an “on-campus” stadium at CMU’s Gesling Field

Nearly all of CMU's campus, the main quad part and such, actually falls in Squirrel Hill. The actual boundary between North Oakland and Squirrel Hill North is Boundary Street and then South Neville St. So, you know, the giant chasm behind the Carnegie Museums is actually the boundary between...

They aren't. Was discussed at length previously.

    Memphis

No most likely, they are the official, contracted sports medicine provider for the athletic department. But also for the Steelers and Penguins. And also like 75 other teams and schools.

Fed Ex just pledged $25 Million for the Memphis NIL fund

UPMC also had an overall system operating margin of -0.7% in 2023, not including tax and interest payments which doubled the loss. In fact, health services was nearly -2%. For comparison to the other side of the state, Penn Med's operating margin was +2.4%. UPMC's operating margins have...

Fed Ex just pledged $25 Million for the Memphis NIL fund

Some are, some aren't. Memphis collective partners with Champions for Literacy so contributions made to it through that charity are tax deductible. Happy Valley United is a registered charity and gifts are tax delectable. That is something I think has hurt Alliance 412. They do not have any...

    Another classic Oakland establishment closing

I can't believe there is no one that wanted to take over Dave & Andy's. Oakland traditions have just be wiped out over the last several years.

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Yet the conference networks are entirely dependent on that market model that is currently responsible for bringing in millions a year in actual dollars to each member school. Not future hypothetical dollars, real dollars now. And, outside of about 10 total schools, what brings "eyeballs" for...

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Because Cal-Stanford was put on the Pac-12 Network, which is not metered similar to the other conference networks.

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Pitt can, and is currently scheduled to play WVU every year without WVU being in the ACC, so I'm not sure how there is any difference to Pitt.

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Wow, clever. Here'$ the reality for the way the ACC is currently construed. Because this is ALL about closing the $ gap as much as possible. ACC Network in-state rate per cable/satellite provider $1.30 per month vs out-of-state rate of $0.25 per month. Approximate number of cable and...

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

If you think WVU is some lynchpin to ACC stability, I don't know what to tell you. You've been sniffing the glue of too many WVU bloggers.

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Yeah, sorry, Peak is just like every other blogger and speculator on this. He has no idea what will happen and who will actually leave the ACC. If half the ACC leaves, that is way different than just FSU and Clemson leaving. Are there slots for all of these teams? And the timing of what will...

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

WVU only is better from geographic travel sense. Otherwise, it does nothing for the ACC. You think WVU/Wake is more valuable than Stanford/Wake? Both are equally not valuable. Stanford vs Cal is way more valuable than WVU vs VT, and the ACC already has half of the Brawl.

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Snobbery or not, Cal and Stanford were never going to join the B12. If they weren't going to the ACC, they would have tried rebuilding the Pac with WSU and OSU. The B12 was never seen as an option for them. And that snobbery is going to be an advantage to keep the ACC together if or when it...

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

WVU is in no way in a more stable situation. The Big 12 is only "stable" because no conference ahead of them on the pecking order has any real interest in any of their current members. Financially, under the current conditions, it will be in a distant 4th place. It faces the same issue as...

Worst possible time for the program to flounder

Cal and Standford actually had no interest in the B12. Nor does anyone in the ACC. The only way ACC teams go to the B12 is if the ACC loses the bulk of its membership. That is far from a foregone conclusion. It is just, if not more likely, that a critical mass of the ACC remains together and...

Steelers Will Likely Eliminate Partnership With Pitt When They Relocate Their Practice Facility article

Won't bother Pitt at all to be sole occupant of the entire facility. UPMC owns it, not Pitt.

Pitt reaches agreement to buy PAA building

It's gotta be a high profile use that make sense for student use...and some place you tour prospective students. In other words, the last thing you want to shove in there is some obscure academic program like women's studies or the Spanish department. I think you could look at making it the...
