Played Indiana tight but only beat Ave Maria by 9 at home tonight. Pitt needs to keep up the momentum. No reason they can’t repeat this performance on Monday. H2P.

UNCG also beat NCAT by 16 tonight, but AT put up 78 tonight. So maybe Pitts defense is slightly better than we thought.

UVA beat Gators
Monmouth beat WVU

Interesting that their best player came off the bench, he must still be a little hurt. Didn’t play against IU.

I’d expect Pitt to be a favorite in the 14-17 pt range, somewhere around there.

So what do we expect for tomorrow? Close game, continued dominance, a loss and wake up call?

BPI has them as 93
Ken Pom at 132

So likely quad 3 opponent.

Pitt by 14-17 seems reasonable; but I would really like to see Pitt actually win the game by a more solid 20-25 point range.

I said this elsewhere, but Pat Chambers’ teams are going to try to fight you in a back alley on defense, and they’re going to struggle to score if they can’t dribble drive it straight down the lane.

I think they’ll be a pain in the ass for most of the first half, they’re going to get themselves into foul trouble and eventually dig too deep into their bench to keep their foot on the defensive gas, and our length is going to give them serious, serious problems for the only thing that they really know how to do offensively. I’m seeing it as pretty similar to Binghamton, honestly. It’d be great to get the kill shot a few minutes earlier against FGCU than we did on Friday against Binghamton.

Similar to Binghamton would be quite the boost in metrics for Pitt given where FGCU is currently on the spectrum. Im curious how Indiana plays against army tonight. NW also played Dayton close yesterday so Binghamton likely not the best comparative gauge either.

Just saw line of -10.5 come out. Maybe they are basing on their performance vs Indiana instead of Ave Maria…but I am all over Pitt in this one.

Anyone have guess on the LINE of this game??

The line is -10.5

These are the efficiency website lines

Torvik- -7.7
Haslam- -13
Warren Nolan- -17
Massey- -13

A good performance by Pitt is winning this game by 22+ points.

Don't sag on the 3 point shooters, something Capel is known to do in the past. Id like to see Austin and Jeffress check Zach Anderson, but Capel may put Hinson on him. Hinson needs to be ready on defense if this is the case and his 3 point on court awareness defense better be ready from the tip.

Keep the intensity up and dominate on defense and the glass and control the paint. Keep 2nd chance points to a minimum.

Push the pace on defensive rebounds, as FGC has a habit of getting beat down the floor for transition baskets as they get lazy in transition defense.

Indiana played a pretty awful offensive game against them. 4/13 from three. 19/30 from the line. Gave up 13 offensive rebounds. And they still won.

They only got 9 offensive rebounds against Ave Maria who shot 15/50 on 3’s and kept it within 9 points. If Pitt were to attempt 50 threes….Ave Maria also got 12 offensive rebounds. I like Pitt’s chances…

As for Indiana’s second game tonight. Johnson dominating with 15 at the break as they crush 0-2 Army at the half 32-31.

Johnson with 4 late free throws to finish with 19 as Indiana fails to cover the 25.5 point spread 72-64. I’m feeling a little better about tomorrow night. We will see if line moves before game but I would have to think some money will be put on Pitt between now and then.

Down to -8.5 this morning. Should be a good test, and I'm interested in seeing how they respond.

Is there an injury we don’t know about? Indiana is not that good. Neither is FGCU based on their division 2 foe. This will not be close tonight.

Isaiah Thompson did not play against Indiana. He played 24 minutes last game and was 1-5 shooting. Last year he was FGC's top scorer at 15ppg. He is also a 38% 3 point shooter and made 82 three's last year. He is coming back from injury, is a 5th year senior, and transferred from Purdue.

Like I said above, we better be ready to guard the 3 point line and not sag on our perimeter defense.

How do you guys feel about the 145.5 O/U?
That could be a trap. I’m much more comfortable with a cover of spread but a 90-50 win would still be under if the d comes to play and they have an off night shooting 3. I feel like Pitt will score and get offensive rebounds when they miss. If FGCU is cold from three, maybe they struggle to hit 60. 85-60 is still under even though it would be a great metric win.

If there's one coach I dislike, it's Chambers. I've seen his post game interviews
and he IMO is an outspoken ass...e. He did win an NIT at PSU, and did get the program
to improve.....not an easy task when he first came there. FGCU has not been
"Dunk City" lately. They did play Indiana close (at Indiana) and beat Ave Maria,
(NAIA Div 11) in a closer game than what I would have expected. I live near these two
schools in the winter, so I tend to know about them, especially FGCU. Ave Maria
is outside of Naples and FGCU is in Fort Meyers.

I gotta believe Chambers will have his players up for this game, in that he's coached
against us in the past. Even Stallings beat him in 2016, however Chambers returned
the favor hammering us by 31 pts in 2017. IMO, We should win this by double figures.
However, FGCU has nothing to lose, and will more than likely play tough.

Does toughness really equate money moving towards FGCU? Is Pitt not also going to play tough. 0-2 Army also played Indiana tough…or maybe Indiana is just bad to start the year. Chambers isn’t awful. He also beat pitt the same year as Navy, Montana in double Ot, and the same year we took Mount something to OT too.

That was the time period where they actually were able to get a little something going from a program level at Penn State, and we had Kevin Stallings. And the 2016 and 2017 games were at neutral sites - but he was also here at the Pete in 2013 for the Big Ten/ACC challenge. That was the Patterson/Zanna season.

Then back up to 9.5. If Pitt's level of exceeding the Pomeroy predicted scoring margins in the first two games is an accurate measure then Pitt should beat FGCU by about 20-21 points rather than only 9 or 10. We will know tonight.

Thanks, Panthers!!!

-9.5 and over 144.5
$20 for $110 total (50% boost token added)

I REALLY like watching this team play ball. Would be sweet if they keep paying out too. I didnt dare bet on them the last few seasons. Game on this year! H2P!
