As I said, I don't even like Lubrano. I say so on BWI and talk to him there.
But this is like two men squaring up for a fight, "guy B" deciding to have the fight on "guy A"'s home turf (his radio show), then "guy A" showing his gratitude by deciding to kick "guy B" in the balls.
It was a cheap shot that only appealed to the "lowest common denominator" types.
I didn't listen to the thing, but.....
If he brought up that there was a divorce because lubrano got fat, or bald, or gambled too much, etc, then yeah it would be unprofessional.
But since we got an obsessed paterno defender, who was so into this his spouse left him, yeah I think it's kind of relevant.
I do wonder if Bernstein's claim is even true. It's on the record that Anthony Lubrano's wife filed divorce papers on 31-August-2011. Which would have been before the Sandusky story even broke.
So, it must be some later wife. Maybe so, I don't know.

All the alumni-elected trustees run on a platform of one issue: restoring sainthood to Paterno. The political machine that is PS4RS (Penn Staters 4 Responsible Stewardship) endorse the candidates who are the most on board with the Paterno as a victim philosophy and the alumni then vote in lockstep for whoever PS4RS tells them to. Michnittlion has speculated in the past that PS4RS may even be bankrolled by the Paterno family, since the goal of the organization is to elect only Paterno crazies to the Board of Trustees.
BWI itself even hates Adam Taliaferro now because the alumni elected him to the Board of Trustees and he was not militant enough in defending Paterno.
I agree. This crosses beyond boundaries. It is cult worshipping at its highest form. So revealing the wife left him because of this is very relevant to the conversation.
First let me make it crystal clear that I think Anthony Lubrano is clearly a whack job of the highest order. He may be THE craziest Joe-hadist of them all.
Also, the radio host is not wrong in saying that all of these Paterno nutcases are being extremely disingenuous. They ARE basically trying to cast doubt on the veracity of the accusations without directly challenging the truthfulness of the accusers. That's dirty pool, IMO, and I don't respect that approach at all. However, that's not an uncommon legal or PR tactic whenever you don't have common sense or the basic facts on your side.
What they are basically saying is:
"I'm not saying (fill in the blank) is a liar but you do have to wonder about this claim because he said he made it during practice at 9 AM and records show that practice did not begin until 9:15 AM., sooooo...."
The subtext being that because he got that fact wrong how many other facts did he get wrong - including the fact that he was molested?
That's dirty pool. Who cares if he reported the assault at 9:03 AM or 9:27 AM? That's just a hypothetical example. The point is there are a lot of shell games being played here and at the end of the day they hurt your cause more than they help it because they don't change narratives. Rather they tend to fortify people in there previously held positions because eventually smart people sniff out the fact that they are clearly being manipulated.
That said, in the interest of fairness, I must acknowledge that he did a pretty good job there making his case and staying calm and factual and on message.
Also, the radio host was way out of bounds. That stuff about Lubrano's wife leaving him over his quixotic Paterno crusade (which would be amazing if it's true) was just a cheap shot and uncalled for, IMO. The host was clearly frustrated because he was not advancing like he had anticipated.

The problem with the Cult is they actually believe that Sandusky is innocent and framed. This was a total effort to discredit Paterno because people were jealous of him for "Success with Honor"

I doubt Lubrano is all that crazy. You'd be surprised at how some of these guys hang on the fringes of the "club" of PSU elite waiting for their chance to get a seat at the table. Lubrano seemingly came out of nowhere to "lead the charge to truth" when Freeh happened and ran a Trump like campaign by screaming foul at the "Old Guard" that held him back for so long.
To explain it simply, there are those that just like to hang around the edges because it feels good. Then there are those that think they are somebody important but really aren't. Then in the center are the ones that are really running the show at Penn State that have successfully kept this nightmare at arms length and would have pushed this whole mess into the abyss had guys like Lubrano not tapped into and fanned the flames of discontent.
Honestly, had Lubrano just let this run its course, it would have been over and long forgotten by now. Instead, he keeps promising the big reveal is coming any day now, for going on four years or so. We still have that sh!t show to enjoy when it happens.

Here's the thing, PSU and Lunrano have to realize. PSU had a convicted child rapist on staff and around campus for many years, a person who came into regular contact with young boys through his charity.....for decades. At the very least, it is proven that PSU and Paterno knew about this as early as 01. If that truly was Sandusky's first assault or the first time it was ever witnessesed in the act, reasonable people have to believe he was doing this many years earlier and it was known about many yeara earlier by people such Paterno. Even if absolutely nothing happened prior to 2001, PSU fans just need to say, "Hey, we worship Joe. He is our God, but, yea, Sandusky probably raped boys for decades and Joe probably had some knowledge to some extent but he is still our God and we love him. We are." None of this will ever be proven, but its so likely, given the corroborated evidence we know, that this was happening much earlier, that its time to just admit that that was a possibility, continue to write $1 or $2 million checks to anybody who makes accusations under oath, and just get on with it. The failures in 2001 make Paterno and PSU fair game for what is happening now.

Any "normal" person would've shut-down the interview a few minutes into it. For me, that demonstrated Lubrano's total devotion to The Cause.

Sad thing is no one was jealous of "success with honor", more like suspicious of it. I know I always was.
I feel bad for kids that go to PSU for an education and don't give a shit about their football program.
I highly doubt this news will hurt their parks and recreation, forest ranger programs.....or the renown world campus
