144 total yards after the 67 on the 1st drive. Duquesne was trailing WVU 14-10 before the lightning delay late in the 1st Half and put up 17 points. We managed 6.

I know everyone on here hated Brennan Marion but is there any OC in the country worse than Frank Cignetti? I get that it wasn't a Marion vs Cignetti decision but wow, was that a terrible hire. This is 2 out of the last 3 terrible OC hires and Whipple was awful up until the Kenny Covid year.

Basically, in a nutshell, Duzz has problems and there are many. The program is backsliding. His recruiting is terrible. We have no offensive talent. And the defense is just ok and that's not good enough. This season is over but I dont know how he fixes this going forward. We have no talent and the recruiting sucks. Not a good combo. Reminds me a ton of Dixon's backslide.

If we go 5-7 you’ll get clowns telling us how they won 25 in three years and how great that is

I see 4-8 right now with a chance at 3-9 or 5-7. Hopefully we have a good Academic APR rate or whatever stupid metric they go by so we can get a bowl at 5-7.

Whipple was not a good hire either.

He’s been an OC since the mid-80s.

What other OC from that long ago would you want hired?

He just got lucky was enough talent that you probably could have run almost any offense and it produced.

I hated Cig hire from the start.

He already failed here once. And failed everywhere he went after it.

It was lazy and crazy to hire him again, but apparently ADs and school presidents aren’t supposed to get involved in hiring of the fifth or so highest paid employees of the entire university

I thought Whipple was really bad and was calling for his firing but lucked into the Kenny Covid/Addison combo. Narduzzi hates offense. This game was boring AF. Even the atmosphere down there was lame. WVU fans tried to be lively but the game was so dull, they couldn't really get into it. Big Ten fans must have been jerking off watching that defensive struggle.

I try not to “jump the gun” when it comes to sports, but…

How many wins do we see left on the schedule? We’ll definitely be the clear underdog against UNC, Notre Dame, FSU, and Duke. Louisville, Syracuse, and Wake Forest are all undefeated through three weeks. Boston College apparently found a QB after almost upsetting the Noles.

I think Virginia Tech is the one game that I still feel pretty good about. I’m chalking the first four up as losses at the moment, and I can see the latter four going either way.

What a depressing turn of events.

Whipple is somewhere laughing his complete ass off at what has occurred at Pitt the last two seasons with regards to the offense and quarterback position.

Slovis is probably laughing too. Wonder how both would have done under Whipple instead of this current guy

Two years removed from an ACC title… like that means anything? The league was very bad the year Pitt won it. Even with an elite QB Pitt was squeaking by mediocre teams. Narduzzi is a 5-6 wins per season kinda guy that was elevated by a flukey season.

3-9 is most likely. But honestly this team has so many problems even if he eventually makes a QB change it ain't gonna fix the awful OLine and DLine and awful wideouts. A little over a season after the ACC champs Pitt looks like complete garbage.

That season, we were favored in all 13 but still managed home losses to WMU and Miami because despite having Pickett and Addison, the Narduzzi D couldn't stop a Middle School offense.

I would agree that Villeaux doesn't fix much. He is very likely worse than Jurkovec. The WRs are putrid and the OL played better but still isnt good.

It's too soon to say how good this defense is. We haven't faced a good QB yet. The Cincy QB can run, but he has led some awful offenses in his college career because he's a backup talent.

Yep. That’s what is kinda scary.

The two losses are bottom Tier P5 talent led by QBs that struggle to complete a pass.

And that part of the schedule is now over.

Here are Pitt's records under HCPN:
2015.....8-5.
2016.....8-5.
2017.....5-7.
2018.....7-7.
2019.....8-5.
2020.....6-5.
2021.....11-3.
2022.....9-4.

Their record in 2021 and playing in the ACC championship is the exception, not the rule. This team is on pace to do what his other teams have done not counting 2021.

It’s remarkable how similar Pitt is with the Steelers lately. The coaching hires highlight this, bringing in unheralded coordinators and rarely, if ever, taking chances in bright young coaches. You should want your position coaches leaving for coordinator jobs and coordinators leaving for head coach jobs.

Other OCs make it look so easy for their QBs. Not in Pittsburgh.
