As I sit here absolutely disgusted by Jaland Lowe's regression this season, I was thinking to myself that he's having the worst high volume shooting season that I can ever recall from behind the arch since I became a Pitt fan during the 2000-01 season. I decided to take a look and it's true, outside of one other similar output (I was surprised).

Jaland is 2-9 tonight from 3 and now shooting 27.4% for the season (37 - 135). There has not been another single Pitt player this century to shoot over 130 3's in a season at under 30%.

Trivia question:
Pitt has had 5 players shoot over 100 3's in a season at under 30% this century. Who are they?

Brandin Knight maybe once.
Antonio Graves not sure he ever got the volume
Gibbs had that awful Sr year but I don't think it was that bad.
Cam Wright again volume

Cam Wright comes to mind as well. Someone from the awful ‘17-18 team had to have qualified so I will say Marcus Carr. The other guess I will go with is James Robinson though I don’t think he shot that many 3s.

I don’t know if he actually shot <30%, but Jermaine Dixon comes to mind as someone who’d continuously chuck three-pointers despite very few falling down. He was a guy who’d drive you nuts one possession only to redeem himself with a very nice play the next one.

Hint: #5 on the list played on the same team (same season) as another already correctly named player on the list.

Levance as a junior is on the list. Although he did hit the big one against Duke that year. Let me think about the other one,

Gibbs shot 34.5 as a senior. Graves actually shot something like 37% for his career.

Yes. DT Graves was excellent his Jr and sr years. I remember him struggling earlier in his career. Ended up a very good player.

With how good Gibbs was before that 34.5 seemed much worse. He did play out of position and not much help once Woodall went down.

I’m remembering it was Graves’ junior year when he struggled from three until he had a breakout game with 19 against Marquette when Dixon remarked that he probably wasn’t even on the Eagles scouting report. He also was very good from three against Nova and the Cuse in the Big East Tournament.

Top two guys on the list played/are still playing in the NBA!

All that I'm rooting for at this point is for Jaland to have arguably Pitt's worst shooting season of the century. A couple more of these 1 for 6 type of efforts in what will almost assuredly be our final three games will do it.

Incredible he’s already taken 15 more shots than anyone on that list with 4 games still to go. He might clip 175 attempts for the season.

And at that percentage to still have a green light…. That my friends is ALL COACHING
It's absurd. Here's the list of players that have taken 150+ 3PA attempts in a season since 2000.

Jaland’s problem is because there is no flow to our passing (something the PG normally initiates), a lot of his 3-pt attempts are 1v1 with a hand in his face…instead of open looks.

If he would pass the ball, move around a bit, and find some spacing he would have much better opportunities. Instead we send a big up to screen, Jaland runs back and forth around the screen, tries one more ball-handling trick and then just chucks it up there. Looks like pickup ball at the gym.

This is true, but he's clanking most of his wide open three's too. Maybe he's just lost his legs and confidence at this point of the year. He'll be okay with a change of scenery.

I tend to agree that Lowe never really gets a good look at 3.

That being said he doesn’t have the same luxuries that Guillermo and Austin have. Lowe doesn’t have the option of just standing in one spot at the 3 point line hoping that the ball falls into his lap with his feet underneath him
