I guess it would depend on your preference for sports. I was too young unfortunately.
yeah, I was too. actually have no clue about '79 pitt. one loss to UNC early and ran the table. some of these Sherrill teams really should have had more NCs. But I was too young to remember myself.

then you should have named your post Best Year in Pittsburgh Sports History when I was not too young?
But no one has made the point that 1979 was a definitively better year than 09. Two championship teams, a top 10 finish for another team, and one of the top 2 seasons over a 25 year stretch for a 4th team.

Gotta agree . I was 15-16 and thought it would last forever .
Went with my old man to washington blvd. got my license , got home .
Took the 73 Impala out for my first solo run and got pulled over 1/2 mile from my house .
The cop couldn't believe I was old enough to be driving ! Was proud to show him my newly stamped paper permit !

It has to be one of the years between 1952 and 1954. Pirates were a consistent last place team. Steelers were awful. Pitt was mediocre until 1955. Went bowling then and 1956. Pitt basketball was good in the late 1950s with Don Hennon and Julius Peagues. Don’t know about 1952-54 though.

I was too young to fully appreciate ‘79....but there is something about winning a SB in January, winning a WS in October, and then finishing out the next NFL season on track to win another SB.

Very rare...I think Boston has done something like that recently.

Loved ‘09....but the fact it produced some of the worst moments for Pitt at the end makes me knock it down a notch. Definitely my favorite Steeler season as an adult.
