Forys and Rahmani both lost in the Round of 16 .....

(11) Forys lost a 7-5 dec to (6) Parker (Lehigh).

Rahmani lost a 4-2 dec to (1) Hidlay (NCS)

Zanetta dec Shoop (Lock Haven) 10-1 in a consolation match.

Solomon consolation match still pending.

The seeding committee penalized those who defaulted out of their conference tournament...nolf and kemerrer essentially placed 6th. In my opinion the right thing to do

Finishing 14th on day one with only four wrestlers is impressive. In all the years of following nationals I don’t know of any of our wrestlers having to wrestle the #1 seed and then the #2 seed back to back. If anyone can pull off the upset, Rahmani can.

Rahmani's has looked good. Best he has all year. Actually all have looked good. Just need more than 4 wrestlers. This am will show if we can do ok.

What time do the Pitt wrestlers wrestle this am? Thanks.

I saw the Zanetta match. I thought he was completely outclassed.

Everything you see in life does not stand alone, there is always a context. Diakomihalis is a freshman phenom like his hero Dake. Nick on the other hand is not even a four year starter. He battled last year all season long for the starting spot with Robert Lee. The fact that Nick even qualified for nationals is a testament to his work ethic and great attitude as a student athlete at Pitt. He has come a long way since his freshman year. So yeah, you’re right, he was not the better wrestler.

The new coaching staff has it's work cut out for it. We need to build out a quality roster. It would take a miracle to make much noise at nationals with only 4 wrestlers qualifying. I have a feeling that we will be in a much better position in a couple of years.

We'll be in a much better position next year. I can see Bentley, Phillippi, Rahmani, Bonacorsi, Wenzel, and Harvey qualifying with maybe one or two more if we get a good transfer or two.

Anyone still wrestling for Pitt in Cleveland? Or is the season over?

We are done. Solomon had a 4-0 lead and lost 10-6. Rhamani wrestled the 2 seed and lost. He looked good in losing. Zanetta got Jack in cons. And lost. Dom got the 5th seed in wrestle backs and lost badly. All are out.

Thanks. Is the the expected outcome? Or close to it? Or did we over/under achieve?

Underachieved just based on the pure results, but Dom and Taleb got really bad draws in the consolations and drew top guys that were upset victims in the winner's bracket. I didn't get to see their matches yet but Taleb has some serious momentum going into the off-season. Gave #1 Hidlay all he could handle twice and seemed to do the same against #2 Levallee (sp?). Should really boost his confidence going into next year.

As a team, Pitt only had 4 wrestlers in the tournament (none of them favorites) so the expectations were really to have those 4 wrestle well and get a few wins IMO.

Year 1 under the new coach was, I believe, promising.

It may seem like we have a long way to go but a single kid like Spenser Lee would have helped us a lot. The good news is that PA keeps producing top level wrestling talent like no other state.

At this point, there is close to zero chance we get a kid like Spencer Lee. Of course, not many programs have more than a zero chance at getting a kid like him.
