Missed the memo on this one. Alexander Dexter, Jasper Loefflesend, and GK Nico Campuzzano put their names in as well as Edward Kizza. Not sure if they have forfeited their NCAA eligibility or not. I'd also wonder if the NCAA would allow drafted players to play the spring season if their MLS team allows them as very few college players will see significant time and most will be loaned to USL clubs.

Other notable players in the draft

- Kimarni Smith of Clemsob
- Aidan McFadden ND
- David Egbo - Akron (Central Catholic and Century United)
- Christian Hackenburg's brother Brandon who plays for PSU

Kizza did just get drafted although have to think he wasn’t coming back anyway. He was taken 24th in the first round.

Went to New England

Wouldn’t it be be something if Christian Hackenburg had the least successful pro career of his siblings? His other brother is the C for Clemson baseball and will be a pro pick as well

As an Orlando city fan which is the club that drafted him I hope he does something haha.
No other Pitt players were drafted.

Yea, Im sure Kizza wasnt coming back. Nice to see him go in the 1st Round though that's no guarantee he'll make the 1st team. I do think he does carve out a career eventually in MLS. May have to start in USL though.

Not sure if this means the other 3 can come back.

FWIW, David Egbo went 9th. I cant remember a Pittsburgh kid playing in MLS. Would he be the 1st?

They can all come back if they want to. Hackenberg said after he was picked that he was still playing in the spring for Penn State.

To my knowledge yes... wouldn’t surprise me if someone was born in Pittsburgh and played in MLS just not raised and brought up.

Not MLS but Meghan Klinnenberg (sp?) from the USWNT is Pine Richland grad I want to say I know she’s Pittsburgh born and raised. She plays in the womens league.

javier perez was drafted in 2019. he has one appearance with LAFC and on loan to the USL the remainder of 2019. can't find him on either roster at this point so no idea where he is.

Veronica Latsko is a Peters township girl in the league now playing for the Houston Dash for several years. She’s a great talent who dominated locally and went to Virginia. She’s #3 ever for me. Taylor Schram (canon Mac) was the best locally, went to PSU, won an under 21 World Cup before retiring early due to concussions. She would have been on the women’s senior national team if not for a career cut short. I’d put Klingenberg #2. There was another player who to me was a notch below and that was Frannie Crouse who played at PSU and for the NC Courage a few years ago. There’s currently a player for WVU who I could see playing in the league (Alina Stahl from Baldwin).

all of these players never really considered Pitt...but Coach Randy now makes Pitt relevant for the best local players. The players I mentioned are generational type talents and if another one comes through in the next few years, he will have Pitt in play.

I worked worked with Frankie Crouse’s grandmother years ago and saw her a month ago. Asked how Frannie was doing. Not playing any longer. Woman’s league pays pittance. Could not live off what they pay. Maybe can if your the star, I don’t know.

WPA is a good area for women's soccer. One of the worst in the nation for the men's side.
