.down. Our LB speed is so slow. On those WR screens or passes into the flat our LB'ers take forever to close distence. And when your slow what should be hard shoulder pad tackles turn into lunging arm attempts at tackling which are easy to escape from. Our LBers take backpeddling angles instead of attacking angles which gives up yardage.
NW has not beat down the field. They beat us thru the LBing core for the bulk of this game. How many times did we take them to 3rd or 4th down because they knew we were slow reacting from our LBers. How is it not one of our backers ever reads a play & knifes thru to make a tackle or reads a pass in the flat & ignores their assignment to step up & make a play.

It wasn't all in the LBs, a lot of bad angles and tackling by the DBs as well. And on the 2 4th down QB sneaks, it was embarrassing how far NW's offensive line blew our DL off the LOS

Give credit to Northwestern, when you see on tape that the opponent's LB speed is most accurately timed on sundials and the middle D-line is playing soft, you go for it. NW did...Over and over again.

Unfortunately it will be longer than that. I've always been the optimist, but this loss was the final nail in the coffin. I really don't see this program going anywhere anymore. No momentum going into next season and there's a good chance the team will be worse. Maybe something will change before august, but right now next year looks pretty depressing.

Even when Conner was playing, didn't go to him much. To watch today's game, I would've thought Canada wasn't even still there. Looked nothing like the games he called all year. I mean only Pitt has the luck to lose so many players in a bowl game, but right from the beginning the game looked oddly different than what we are used to seeing.

Frankly, that surprised me as well. Pitt was manhandling our weak OL early in the game, but some of your defensive linemen played really poorly (too high) on those QB sneaks

Even when Conner was playing, didn't go to him much. To watch today's game, I would've thought Canada wasn't even still there. Looked nothing like the games he called all year. I mean only Pitt has the luck to lose so many players in a bowl game, but right from the beginning the game looked oddly different than what we are used to seeing.

Our O line didn't have its best day. We were struggling to run between the tackles. NU won the physical war all day, all over the field.

I agree I think we will be lucky to be 7-5 next year. We aren't beating Miami any time soon no matter what people think Richt can coach. UNC has our number, Ok State returns their QB and receiver who torched us, winning at PSU early in the year will be a huge task and no doubt we'll to someone we shouldn't I say 7-5.
