I hope Pitt lands all the 412 kids but you need more than that to get over the hump.Narduzzi must get some talent from other areas and now.A few 412 are needed every year but will not get you to the promised land.Donald,Boyd,Conner are all great players but look at Pitt record with them so far!You must get into the recruiting hotbeds and pluck a few studs out of there. The question is can Narduzzi do that to compliment the WPIAL kids that he will get.Like they said on the PSU board Urban to the west,James in State College to the East,Harbaugh everywhere, tough spot to be.Plus Cal U,I mean WVU to the South.

Urban in the West isn't recruiting a lot against Pitt. He's selecting the Ohio kids he wants and also getting 4 stars from wherever he wants (TX, FL, etc). He may only go after and get 1 kid a year from the WPIAL.

If Pitt wants to win the way we want, they have to "dominate" WPIAL recruiting and also do well recruiting (but not needing to "dominate") in other geographic areas.

Sean I agree with you but Narduzzi must keep Urban from getting that 4 star from the WPIAL.Those are the only ones he'll try to get but the ones Pitt must get.Narduzzi must get the top 5 every year from Western Pa he can't let James or Urban get those 4 star kids.I said Pat must pluck a few studs from other areas to compliment his local kids!Watch out for Cal U they bring in 4 stars all the time!

How many Pro Football HOF from the 412 attended Pitt? How does that compare to others?

Six of Pittsburgh's eight, by my count: Joe Schmidt, Mike Ditka, Dan Marino, Tony Dorsett, Russ Grimm and Curtis Martin. Get ready to add Revis, and Donald is off to a great start.

9 I have no literary expertise, I'm just a Cal State grad with a couple of education degrees from there.I'm basically a nobody but I was a head coach in the WPIAL for 35 years. No I'm no Mauti either he was a very good D1 player and I played Dll,no comparison. But guess what 9 my school has a national championship this year, how about yours?I do hope you land every WPIAL kid out there but I really don't think if you do that it will effect PSU or WVU that much!BWDIK?

Well I hope you're joking or you just don't know you're way around a keyboard. You're mastery of the language certainly isn't a cal Berkeley type education thing there. By the way who is Mauti??? Did you teach for 35 years as well or just football?

That is a not realistic. Pitt needs to recruit the WPIAL well and but will not...and has never landed all the best players. PSU is popular in Pittsburgh with many of the kids parents being PSU alums/fans and OSU has been incredibly successful with a National Championship in their pocket last year. As for WVU they don't have any 4* commits this year...although they do have (5) 2* commits

From the social media buzz it is obvious that the new Pitt coaches are doing the right things with local kids and HS coaches but Narduzzi has an uphill climb given the seemingly never ending turmoil within the Pitt FB program.

Does anyone know who runs the 412Crew twitter account? There is some interesting stuff going on there if you care to look at the account.... employing some really random guerrilla recruiting tactics. Lots of amateur "edits" (superimposing recruits onto Pittsburgh/stadium backdrops) and randomly tweeting the recruits twitter handles out of the blue (assuming, to call attention to the 412Crew account).

I commend the account owner, but I have to say, I've never seen another twitter account quiiiiiite like this one.

I think some of the content may be lost on me..."Flicka da Wrist"?

You are not the player...that is your handle on BWI...go read the posts it is obvious.

I think he was talking about Cal State as in California of Pennsylvania, not Cal Tech as in Berkeley

Here's what I think. For the elite of the elite WPIAL kids (lets say 3 per year), Pitt has to get 2 of them with the other going to Ohio State, ND, Mich, or a bandwagon school cherrypicking. Even getting 1 of the 3 is somewhat acceptable (maybe the other goes to PSU.

But when it comes to the other 10-15 WPIAL kids who are P5 caliber, Pitt has to get at least 70% of them. Wannstedt was doing this so it shows its possible. Chryst was getting about 30%.

I thought everyone would know I was a Cal State(U) of Pa grad by my Vulcan name.My God I couldn't of gotten into Cal Berkeley with my below average IQ!
Sean your right if Pitt gets 2-3 of the top WPIAL players that would really help. The top 5 is a reach right now.I don't know if the WPIAL will produce 10-15 p5 type players in the future?I hope but we keep getting less and less of these kids. Its that damn soccer causing this!!!!
Teh I taught public school for 31 years and coached for 35 so you see I'm not on the same intellectual level as most posters on this board.

Do you mean the WPIAL will not produce 10 - 15 / P5 players in ’16 or the future?

9 I'm talking about the future not 2016.Look at the number of kids playing football in the WPIAL now, compared to the 80s.Too many other things to do now, plus specializing on one sport.Lots of very good potential football players never play football because of specializing on another sport. We'll always have some p5 players but not what we had in the past.I hope I'm wrong and we have 20-25 p5 players every year in the future.BWDIK
