#9 Seed Auburn Playing In Birmingham, AL

I don’t know, been down to Bama a few times. I don’t think they look at each other as SEC brothers.

That would be like Pitt and PSU feeling like PA brothers.

Pitt is not a Big Ten brother, and Penn State is not an ACC brother. So it would be totally different.

🤔

How does this happen? That is absurd giving them a home crowd advantage.

I HATE when they do this for lower seeds. Hate it, hate it, hate it. WVU got Pgh as a 10 seed. Cincy got Columbus as a 10 seed. There's other examples of this. Rules should be put in place that you cant play within 200 miles of campus if you aren't a Top 4 seed.

Michigan state in Columbus will be like a home game for them.

256 miles. Yea, I know Detroit is closer than that but Im ok with MSU in Columbus. Cincy shouldn't have been there a few years ago. Also, back in 2008 or around then OSU played Siena in an 8/9 game an hour from campus in Dayton. That aint right. Makes me wish Wheeling would actually bid on the tournament so we can play there.

In-state hated rivals. I’ll wait a minute or two for your punchline………………

Yes, exactly, in state heated rivals. Which is why the original post had a :D at the end. Because it was obviously a joke.

The notion that your average Alabama fan will root for Auburn because they are in the same conference is a joke.

I cannot imagine any scenario where Pitt would brother up to Penn State...Sharing a conference membership or a state would make absolutely no difference..

They wont root for Auburn but they also wont be at Auburn's session in the 1st Round. It will be an Auburn home game which isnt fair to Iowa. Iowa is the higher seed. If they wanted to give someone a home game in that matchup, they should have placed that game in Des Moines and put Illinois/Arkansas in Birmingham

What is best for Iowa or Auburn had literally nothing at all to do with where that game will be played. That simply is not the way that it works. Iowa and Auburn went where they did because they are in the same pod with Houston, and that was the closest place to send Houston. And for literally no other reason.

Why on earth would the NCAA intentionally try to give a home game to an eight seed? Why on earth would the NCAA make the one seed have to travel further in order to accommodate the eight seed?
