A Center in the transfer portal, another Shocker

There's been a few centers I checked out.
Some with much better stats than this guy.
There's a 7 3 guy in the portal.

Yeah, this guy is probably Mid-Major bound. Big kid that plays hard but not really a high major player unless you’re talking about a minutes/foul eater off the bench.

Lots of turmoil in Wichita right now. My initial reaction was that Marshall was finally going to bolt, but it seems to be more so that there are some issues within that program. Marshall is an old school guy and that’s not always a fit with the way guys come and go today. He got away with it in the MVC, but now that he’s bringing in bigger talent along with the transfer craze, guys have a short fuse for his style. He’s in no danger out there and will coach as long as he wants, but they’re certainly experiencing some adjustment issues with the AAC after a strong first year,

IMO I think George wants a chance to actually play somewhere maybe St. Francis will pick him up or something if not maybe he'll go get a job and take care of his wife and kid

This Transfer Portal is ruining college basketball. You gotta wonder if we would have had the same success during the BE days under Howland and Dixon is this was around. I doubt it. I could see lots of our freshman and sophomores not happy with playing time and leaving.

It's just life. Adapt or fail.

The days of tough guy coaches like Gregg Marshall are probably numbered with the way transfers have evolved. And I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

That's why you can forget about redshirting anyone. They won't be here long enough to develop if they aren't playing.

Agreed - that was always the charm for me. Watching a team and the players develop over 3,4,5 years. It will absolutely ruin college sports for a lot of people that aren't fans of the elite schools that will be able to steal everyone's best or already developing players every year.

Teams are still developing kids. Look at teams with recent success: UVA, Nova, Texas Tech. Those teams generally keep kids and build their rosters organically. It’s a little bit on coaching and a bit on the kids. Way, way too much pressure on guys to win big right away. If a kid doesn’t pan out immediately, they get tossed in the rear view mirror much quicker than they used to because guys are afraid to waste a spot on a project. Kids are just going to go where the minutes are available. Some guys can handle coming off the bench for a year or two, some can’t.

I don’t know if it’s ruining CBB, but if you’re a smaller fish like RMU, I can imagine how annoying it must be. I think back to when they had Marquise Reed, Minnie, and the kid who went to GTown (blanking on the name) within the same few years. Toole should’ve had a perennial tourney team that may have been able to pick off a win or two, but they just got picked apart by transfers. I don’t think it hurts at the big time level as much, but an argument can be made that it’s really stung the mids and low majors
