It's going to be hard for Duzz to move away from this defense after he's preached for so long about sticking to it. It will take a change in DC to give him an option to do that without looking like he's going back on what he's said.

I should add that the temptation to pull the fire alarm is not necessary after 3 games, 2 of which were against top 10 teams.

The biggest problem right now are the Jimmy and the Joe's that are playing, but I do agree some changes need to be made to the scheme.

Pitt's defense couldn't stop Youngstown State. If you dont pull the fire alarm after yesterday's debacle then when exactly do you pull it?

Texas got crushed by Maryland in their opener. They saw what the problem was and came out against the #4 team in the country with different D schemes and a Freshman QB and gave USC all they could handle. You take the kids you have and put them in positions that play to their strengths, you do not take a scheme and apply it to kids that can't play that scheme.

Odd thing is... Pretty sure Conklin's D is more like Narduzzi's D than what he was running when Pitt scooped him up.

Agree with this... But, USC has been very disappointing. That Stanford win looks hollow now. Trailed their MAC opponent much of the game too.

How many times have we seen our defensive coaches stymied by the same play over and over, without adapting. How many times did #1 slant into the open yesterday. Our defensive staff is just totally inept.

IMO young talent has been added to the DL and Secondary, but what is going on with the LB position. The other area of concern is we had better talent last year, but still gave up a ton of points. They either need to change the scheme, players, or some of the defensive staff.

I

Then change the HC because this is his stupid scheme.

If they continue to trot 3 of these underwhelming LBs out onto the field against wife open spread teams, results won't change. We learned this years ago with Wanny.

Assume it's Duzz's defense, but Conklin is the guy being paid to run it. He can't possibly keep his job if this continues.
