What led Marquette transfer guard Greg Elliott to Pitt? What can he bring to the Panthers? And how is his chemistry developing with Pitt's other veteran guards? We talked about all of that and more in this conversation with Elliott.

I'm asking because I really don't know as much about all of this recruiting stuff and, honestly, don't have time to know it. But what are these recruits thinking now with the re-alignment talk and money being thrown around? Will we see many of them or any of them play at Pitt this year? I know that these kids are fickle and don't know the meaning of the word commitment.

It means nothing for 2022.

None of this recruiting talk matters now. College sports is being destroyed right before our eyes and it's not coming back. Now these kids are only playing the game for money and the schools are only in athletics for money, nothing else. They whore out their skills and the schools and the conferences, what's left of them, are the pimps. I never thought college sports would be dragged in the gutter like this, but I was wrong.

The particular player we’re talking about got his degree from Marquette in 2021, and seems pretty happy about it.

Good for him and I'm glad he appears to be proud of it. But let's get real. In college football and basketball, these kids for the most part aren't there to get a degree. And if they do, it's usually not in Engineering, Pre-Med, Physics, Math, Finance, or Business....you know, areas where you can go on and make a decent living. There are exceptions, of course. But rare.

The vast majority get degrees and barely get paid. It's actually just the stars that aren't getting degrees or care about the education but that's pretty much always been the case.

My hope for Elliott is that he plays for Pitt for a year, does really well and contributes, then goes on to make a good living using the degree he earned from Marquette. That's all I hope for any of these kids.

Colleges should be in the business of education not in business of making millions from Fb and Bb . Paying coaches millions and administrators 500k+ while letting little Johnny play ball and take English courses has finally and rightfully caught up to them . If there had been a fair way of compensating kids who fill up stadiums in place the NIL would’ve never been an issue .

There’s always going to be some rich guy who has nothing better to do with his money then waste it on some kid who can throw a Fb or shoot a bb . Welcome to the beginning of chaos.
