How did former Lincoln Park standout-turned-Colgate star Nelly Cummings end up at Pitt? We sat down with Cummings to talk about his path to the Panthers, how the process of transferring has changed in the last five years, how his chemistry is developing with Pitt's other guards and why he thinks Pitt fans should have optimism about this season.

I listened to this interview
and was very impressed with
Cummings. First of all, he's
earned his degree from
Colgate. Secondly I remember
his game against Pitt last
season, and he looked good.

The interview indicated he's
articulate, realistic, experienced,
and positive about this coming
season. His average against top
level teams was 18ppg. If you
know my posts, you know I'm
always saying.....I'll wait until
I see em in real time. That also
goes for Cummings, but I do
have a pretty positive vibe
about what he can bring here.

With this Pitt team, attitude is more important than anything. If these players like Cummings can come in here with a positive, productive, humble attitude and be more about team and not individual stats, then I could see next season possibly being above 0.500 overall. That would be a major accomplishment with this program lately. It won't save Capel's job. He's toast. But it will build a small foundation for the next coach to build on.

If they revert back to what has been here the last 6 years, we're back to maybe not even getting to 10 total wins.
