Wright would be a very good add.

No way anyone is talking me into that. Sibande averaged 16/game in the MAC and looked dazed and confused here until the last few games. This dude is 6'0" and averaged 18/game in the PSL. And his 3-point percentage is respectable, but he has funky form and I doubt it would translate against better perimeter defenders.

Wright is a good PG for his level. Scores easily. He can certainly give minutes in the ACC and would be a good backup PG option at Pitt.

Some of this is luck as we saw with Wake Forest. There's so many kids in the portal and people improve at different rates that it shouldn't be terribly surprising if you see some of these mid-major transfers become all-league, heck even at Pitt.

Fair. Although I do think the legend of Wake Forest and their magical march to the NIT has gotten a little out of control.

Still our ceiling, if not our sky... I get it.

Bet what? He didn’t get minutes over Femi, XJ or Horton who are no longer here and is right now the 3rd guard. He’s not going to be efficient in that role he needs to be high volume before he was injured.

If you’re asking me to bet on whether or not they’ll win less than 6 ACC games next year, I certainly will take 6 and the under.

I’m amending this since we both want Pitt to be successful this year. Let’s bet: friendly.

100 bucks, if they win 6 we both donate 100 to Pitt hoops. If they win under 6 you donate 100 to Pitt team of my choice and over I donate 100 to yours

playing limited minutes means he was dazed and confused? not sure how that makes sense.

you're a box score hero. pretty typical on this board.

Yeah, you're a genius who sees what no one else can. Capel is building an empire. Say, if you're so confident in Capel and so sure that Sibande is a really good player, that must cause some cognitive dissonance. Capel obviously didn't think enough of him to give him very many minutes, even on a lousy team, until guys started leaving and he had to. Hmm.

Does the eye test work for you? You asked for examples, and I guess mine were a bit too quantifiable. So.... He looked lost at times. He has a funky shot that didn't look very repeatable. I don't recall him having much of a left at all. He looked slow. Just didn't appear to be a smooth player, to my eye.

I'll take the 6 and WAY under for next year. We may not win more than 4 ACC games next year. I just don't see anything more than that.

I get that but they went from hideous to 1 win away from the NCAAT by getting an average MVC player and a benchwarmer at OU. It was 75% luck and can happen to anyone

I'll bet.. and don't take this the wrong way.. i'd like to pocket the cash. If you don't want to do it that way, that's fine.

As for Nike not getting minutes, he was out of the rotation for half the year because they weren't sure he'd be eligible. Pitt was playing well and guys had established their role when he came back for Miami. That's not an indictment on him. He still got minutes.. but he wasn't going to start halfway through the year on a team that started red hot in ACC play. I don't blame Capel for not changing the rotation.. it was the right move at the time. You have to look at it from an investment standpoint.

You weren't jeopardizing X and Toney's minutes. You needed Horton out there for shooting. You weren't taking Femi off the court and risking him leaving after how he was playing. Sibande, at the time, was expendable because 1) he didn't establish any minutes because he wasn't eligible and 2) he had 1 year left.

when he did play, he balled out. He has elite bounce. He has a decent shot. He's a pretty big guard. Sure, he's coming off an ACL, but the guy can play. He puts so much pressure on defenses with his driving ability. He's very underrated on here.

What's funny is that everyone acts like he sat the whole year.

He played 9 games with reserve minutes. He played 5 games with starter minutes. It's not like he played 20 games reserve and 2 as a starter. That's how it's played out on here though. We all just cherry pick the 9 games he was coming off the bench.

I think a loose example is the Memphis Grizzlies this year. Dillon Brooks was penciled in for 30+ min a game. He was hurt all year.. came back mid year.. got hurt again. Desmond Bane has been unreal and Memphis rolled through the west this year. Would you really sit Bane for Brooks when he's healthy? Again, loose example, but when guys aren't in the rotation because of eligibility or injury, it's hard to supplant them.. especially when you're new to the program.

looked slow. were you baked when watching him? only explanation I have for that comment.

He also wasn't cleared to play until well into the season... but go on.

Sibande is a P6 level player. He looked good at times but its undetermined if he can be a plus level, league average, or below average ACC player.
He didn’t push Johnson, Horton or Femi out of minutes despite practicing all season. Hes not gonna look out of place but he’s not gonna win any games. And who knows how he is coming off the knee.

You think he was supposed replace PG1 or PG2? Neither did Champagnie which obviously means he sucks too.

I think if he was any good he would’ve seen the floor for a 6-14 team, yes. I’m sure every time he scores a basket next year you’ll @ me in the game thread though as he shoots 37 percent from the field
