I've been reaching out to some guys new Pitt assistant coach Archie Collins recruited to Central Michigan for their thoughts on Collins as a recruiter. Here are two quotes I've gotten so far.
From one recruit:
"Coach Archie was a great recruiter. Out of all the guys that came to see me in my recruiting process I was most happy to see him. He was very honest and would shoot you straight and you could (tell he) really looked at you (as) more than a football player. He will be missed but I know he will do great things and I wish him the best."
And from another:
"He was a great representation of what a college recruiter should be. He sent me motivational quotes and fired up text messages before every [game]. And after we would discuss my individual performances and statistics."
If I get any more responses, I'll add them to this thread. But I thought those quotes were a pretty good place to start.
And another:
“He's a great guy man! Really energetic and passionate about football! He loves the game and it really rubs off on the guys he coaches! And most importantly he knows football! One of the smartest guys I know! I could go to him as a wideout and ask him things that could help me. So he's not just a DB coach, he's not just a defensive guy. He's a football coach!”
