I think this could actually end up being very good for the program and is probably as good of time as any. I think we all had concerns over the direction of the program. Better to make changes now than later when if the program had slipped further under JD and the AD had to fire him.
Now Pitt can use the money to get a top notch coach who can breath some new energy into the program. I really believe if Barnes hires the right guy, the 2017 class will be far better than it would have been had JD stayed.
I also think JD is making a big mistake. it will be interesting to see who he hires on his staff. He will need some stud recruiters if hes going to make it as he is not a very good recruiter on his own. Theres a real possibility that TCU will be looking again in 4 years or so.
