Schulman kept emphasizing Duke’s youth. Of course they’re young. They get all those 1 and dones every year!!! And that’s the down side of doing that.

Pitt has NO seniors playing key roles or major minutes.

It is so nice to have a dominant rebounding team. To get rewarded for playing good D by not giving up cheapy 2nd & 3rd chance points very often. Duke hit the offensive glass hard in the 2H. But Pitt grabbed the DR’s at crunch time.

You could’ve sworn that kid grew up watching Pitt in their Big East heyday. Literally looked like he was sending a message that Pitt is back.

Great win! Despite that, our big structural weakness showed—lack of really talented guys taller than 6-6. Coulibaly and Brown are mediocre bigs.

Of course we all know that we need to recruit some quality bigs with hops. A good season—and it looks like we are headed there—should make us attractive to a quality big or two in the spring.

Yea I saw that after this win tonight against Duke with Pitt’s Net Ranking being right around 50 with some quality wins while there is a long long way to go Pitt should be solidly in the tournament as we sit here tonight.

Duke is littered with 4 and 5 star recruits and Jalen Johnson was hurt coming into this game. That was a good win. Duke is going to go on a run and start racking up wins.

Who cares. Did Syracuse’s wins vs Pitt count when we had the worst team in school history? You rarely beat quality opponents when they play their ‘best.’ It’s also usually the the case when a team plays poorly their opponent had something to do with it.

Duke’s results coming into this one were a bit deceiving. Jalen Johnson - who sure looks like their best player - missed their previous 3 games. He looked VERY healthy tonight.

While he was out they only beat BC at home by a point and also lost at VT. Between those 2 they beat WF at home by 11. They are clearly a MUCH better team with Jalen in the lineup.

I agree. They have looked really bad recently even in wins. Losing tonight probably shouldn’t overshadow it’s the best they’ve looked in several games, and it’s no coincidence it was when Johnson returned to playing serious minutes. They will still finish a top 4-5 team in the conference.

Maybe Capel just needed to find the rotation. In the first game TB and AKC both had 10 minutes. We now know who won that battle. Femi only had 8 minutes while WJ had 20. JC and XJ had a combined 21 points... Maybe Capel was too cocky that he could experiment against SF and it bit him in the behind, but now that he has team chemistry, I like their chances going forward.
