We are nation of judges, not a nation of laws. Find a judge on your team and you are good. Trump is finding this out now. My question is how do these cases get assigned?

What I don't like is there truly are no impartial judges. This goes beyond politics. Like for the college sports stuff. WV judge enacts free transfers for everyone so that Raequon Battle can help WVU win a couple extra games last year. Tennessee judge makes accepting free flights or whatever QB Nico did legal so he couldn't be punished. FL and SC judges would have sided with FSU and Clemson so that the ACC needed to cave.
You just need to get a judge on your team. Every administration is faced with this. The other team nixed Biden initiatives such as student loan forgiveness.
I mean this is the system we have. This is democracy. It's messy. It takes long but that's the point. We have a system that doesn't allow for 1 man authoritarianism and that can be frustrating for that party. I just wished we had impartial judges. Let me do it. I'll rule with common sense. You want to bring up some 1700s law that doesn't apply to the current situation to deport Venezuelan gang members? Ok, I'm good with that. A for effort there. Some of the other stuff is crazy illegal but I have no soft spot for gang members.
Please specify "other stuff is crazy illegal' what exact actions are those and what specific law did they break?
And he said "I'll rule with common sense". That attitude is the last thing I want a judge to have.
A judge is there to make sure the law is followed.
But that is not what they are doing. On either side. The SCJ at least is trying to do just that. But these lower district judges seem to be populated too much by activists and not jurists.
