A Summary

WVU was too big and talented inside. Tshwibe 20 pts 17 Boards. Size on the perimeter also a problem for us. Murphy could not find open threes because of their perimeter size. Way too many missed open 3-balls by everyone else.

We ran out of gas in 2nd half after battling all that size inside.

Drumgoole supposed to be a good 3 ball shooter and FT shooter but he is still a deer in the headlights. Coulibaly showed some potential.

I am more inclined now to see us play a lineup of Brown + Coulibaly w/ Hamilton subbing to rest both. Then have Champagnie as the wing. Make Toney Champagnie’s backup. Rotate 2 of the 3 of Johnson, McGowens and Murphy at the 2 guard spots. Maybe add Drumgoole to the mix at wing and guard if or when he loses the deer in the headlights syndrome later in the season.

Not looking good to even match last season’s 14 wins at the moment.

On the positive side, I believe talent wise WVU may be a top 25 team. They are better than FSU, IMHO.

Unless X starts playing up to par I'm down to them maybe winning 16 or 17 total games and not the 20+ I said..

You gotta cut Johnson's minutes. He's got to earn the right to play. He's been horrendous.

I'd go:

PG - Johnson 25 Ezeakudo 15
SG - McGowens 30 Murphy 10
SF - Murphy 20 Toney 10 Drumgoole 10
PF - Champagnie 20 Coulibaly 20
C - Brown 20 Hamilton 20

I have just reduced my expectations to a repeat of last season's 14 wins as their ceiling. I am concerned that they could do worse than that.

IMHO, getting to 14-15 wins is going to require both significant improvement in team first execution and the rapid development of Coulibaly and Drumgoole finding that 3 ball shooting skill he was supposed to be good at.

It’s just baffling how Badly X has been playing. You would have thought he would have worked on his shot over the summer but he still has awful form and can’t hit the broad side of the barn He’s simply a drive to the hop first player with little desire/ability to dish and set up his teammates. While coulibaly murph and Champagnie are or appear to be potential bright spots without average PG play this team will be worse than last year.

yup. Simply going to the range or practicing is worthless unless you go there with a purpose and a plan

people who don’t improve with practice are not practicing properly repeating the same poor form or mechanics doesn’t make you better
