......people need to understand that whenever Coach Duzz decided to bring in his press defense we were going to give up big plays. Regardless who is playing on the corner if a defense insists on pressing a WR you are going to get beat at times.
And then if there is absolutely zero pressure on the QB well then it's a no brainer. Playing the corner is the hardest position in football (maybe all of sports), the players have got to be super aggressive & while playing w/ a short memory. They do not have the luxury of asking for help & are at the mercy of someone getting pressure on the QB.
And then for some on here to question their abilities or performance w/o having any clue what they are looking at is bs.
Give N. Carolina major credit for being prepared for the way we go about blitzing. They picked up our defensive calls very well. And the very few times we did get to Williams he was able to stay in the play somehow.
Williams is 1 of those players that seems to luv playing against the Panthers. He routinely puts a ass whooping on us.
Like Iowa we vary well may have lost to another Top 15 team when this season is all said & done. Now are there things that as a team we should have done better, sure. I was not impressed w/ Coach Chaney's preparedness coming into this game. It looked like the exact same playbook as we ran the past 3 weeks. He is running that In motion sweep to TBoyd entirely too much. The QB sneak coming out of the 3rd quarter on a 3rd & long 1 & half was totally uninspired considering we had run the same play once before in the game.
We just had nothing imaginative or original to this year brought out of the offense to surprise NC's defense. We sure seemed capable of throwing the ball down field when the chips came on the line. And that is when the NC defense got penalized because of the pressure we put on their defense.
Our offense has not progressed whatsoever as we season has gone on, And it's not because we do not have players capable of making plays other than TBoyd. Peterman is beginning to focus too much attention at Tyler, much like Chad did last year at times. Others are getting missed because Tyler is such a great target. But the offense can suffer because of that as crazy as it sounds.
We are still a team fighting to discover how good we can be. The fact that we lost a player of James Conner's ability cannot be overlooked or downplayed but it is something that we have to forget all about as it serves no purpose for the players busting their ass.
Once again we played a football game where the final score was within' a single possession of the football. It was a game we very well could have won regardless of who had more talent or not.
Hail to PITT !!!
