I have never understood all the controversy on here over a song. I was always ambivalent with mixed feelings. Dumb song for a football game but it gets fans screaming "let's go pitt" all together better than anything else I've seen. Students and players seem to like it, I never really understood why. I could take it or leave it.
But last night as the 3rd qtr ended, everyone I was there with got up for a last men's room call. I thought I may as well join them. As I was stepping out, my 8 year old grandson looked at me and said "Poppy, let's stay here and do Sweet Caroline". We put our arms around each other, swayed and did all the motions and screamed " let's go Pitt". It was just one of those moments I'll never forget.
As far as I'm concerned, Sweet Caroline can stay.
