What kills me and scares me is that we are supposed to have a defensive "guru" on the sidelines, but yet he offers no adjustments AT ALL FOR THE SECONDARY!! NONE!! Jessie Palmer was critical of him tonight and I'm sure lots of the fans were. These corners cannot cover man for man, they are terrible. What is up with this guy?? All he does is scream and yell on the sideline until he gets restrained by 1 of his assistants. Sure I wanted a vocal guy here after Chryst but he is going overboard and most of the issues are HIS DAMN FAULT.

This coaching decision is looking more and more troubling every week.

You do realize our overall defense is terrible, right? He is picking his poison. By bringing the S down and leaving the CBs straight up he is negating the run. It is also obvious that he is coaching up his CBs to be very physical. If it doesn't get called, we win. It also is the best strategy in regards to turnovers. The overall talent simply isn't there yet and he knows it.

After watching this happen again from my seats...I mean...

Our front four can't get home. Our linebackers are pedestrian and exposed because the front four can't get home and the secondary is horrible. Our secondary is so weak that it means we can't effectively hope to blitz because if the other team max protects they're screwed. All you have to do is get the ball out fast under pressure and throw a jump ball down the sideline on a back shoulder throw.

Literally everything you do against a team with better athletes is eventually trumped by the difference in talent eventually.

And when you spot the other team the winning margin with sloppy play in the first quarter, you lose with this lineup. It's not hard to understand.

You know what is pathetic. It is aholes like you that sit behind a keyboard bashing Pitt when what Pitt needs the most is a fan base that supports this program.

VTech running game is the QB taking off on set plays or broken runs. The actual run game is not all that good. Yet Narduzzi is so concerned with stopping the run that he is being killed in the passing game. I mean how foolish is that thinking that watching a team just throw it up over and over and over and your response is make a play. PAT THEY CAN'T MAKE A ****ING PLAY. You have cost this team any chance to win the coastal with this nonsense. It is one thing to not have the horses. It is yet another to fail to provide the kind of help to at least give them a fighting chance. Hamlin, Ford, Coleman JW at least give you upgrades in ability next year. If we are posting this next year, Pitt is back on the Russian four or five year plan.

These are issues that are not going to be magically changed in one season. We're talking 2018 at the earliest. In other words... by the time this guy gets it together and I can tell he has had about enough of ACC "officiating" against yankees - he will be gone.

What exactly is the problem with a 4-5 year plan? Especially given the coaching nonsense the program has endured over the past decade? I would give ANY hire that long at this point.... any... and some of you expect miracles... our coaching carousel did more damage than psus supposed "sanctions "....I can't believe the stupid cycle that goes on here with every change...all that's needed now is for the biased misinformation crew called Pgh sports media to start weighing in....

Quit having entirely unrealistic expectations all the damn time is it really that hard????

Poker trolls the free and premium boards now, guy must be an alcoholic nitter fan, pathetic excuse of a human being.

I don't mind taking our lumps now with Chryst's recruits. Narduzzi is clearly recruiting well to fill the secondary. Our D should be improved next year, even as we lose key pieces to graduation. We should be running his plan with his kids by 2018...I won't pass full judgement until then. In the meantime, I'm sure glad we have an offense that can put up 30+ points with ease.

Last night's loss hurts but you've got to see a bright future. We are probably undefeated right now with one lock down corner.

Exactly...it takes time and any coach should get 4-5 years... any ...situations like Harbaugh at Michigan are not the norm Hoke was a great recruiter but a bad coach.... Narduzzi did not walk into a situation that was the same....

If we had mediocre pass defense, JUST MEDIOCRE, NOT EVEN GOOD, we could easily be 8-0 or 7-1 at this point.

SCORING - CHECK
OFFENSE - CHECK
RUN D - CHECK

PASS D = WHY WE LOSE

Up next Miami & Clemson, we're looking at 5-5.

Not sure what can be done about it, what adjustments he could make. If I was playing vs. this D, I wouldn't run the ball at all. If I had tall WRs, I'd just throw alley oops and take may chances vs. our 5-8 CBs.

Maybe someone knows...why are DBs always shorter than recievers? It's not a Pitt thing I know... but how many times really can you expect a 5'7" player to stop a 6'3" player really?

give me a fing break...this was a well played game against a good opponent the defense stopped numerous drives...how many times did we get to the quarterback. pressure is and has been an issue at times this season but that's the game.... guys like you kill me...get rid of one of the most sought after coaches in his second season....jeez

Can't tell if trolling or not. But I do agree that Narduzzi needs to win a big game at some point. His refusal to make defensive adjustments has cost this team in a huge way this season. Maybe his scheme is the only way he knows? I don't know.

Not exactly the greatest review from ESPN last night:

http://www.espn.com/college-football/recap?gameId=400869471

To save some of the reading...

"One of the nation's worst secondaries kept daring Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans to throw. So he did. Over. And over. And over."

"Pitt coach Narduzzi built his reputation as defensive coordinator at Michigan State by requiring his secondary to play physical. He's intent on doing the same at Pitt, even as the weeks pass and improvement only comes in sporadic bursts. Facing the Hokies, it was no different."

WILD MAN

Narduzzi became increasingly animated on the sideline as the game wore on, convinced Virginia Tech's wide receivers were illegally giving themselves and advantage on all those alley-oop passes from Evans.

"They did a great job pushing off all night," Narduzzi said. "Give them credit for that."

A really big THANK YOU! Finally someone has seen what Ive seen. If he takes men out the box they will get gashed like last year by the run. Folks the man is coaching against a stacked deck. The only choice he has is to burn all the redshirts with his players. It was known it was going to be like this for a couple years. People have said there is nothing but MAC players on defense. Honestly, what do you all want the man to do?

Be happy we even have a chance to win these games. Its not been that way in a while.
