Who woulda thunk it?
What a night....,Miami
beats UVA, WF over
Duke, and Pitt! All were
underdogs and all won.
I still like UVA, Va Tech,
NC, and Duke, I've been
touting Va Tech from
the begiining. Right now
could WF or Miami work
its way into that top
group, and could Pitt
get into the mid level?

I honestly thought we
had more talent on the
floor then Cuse. Of course
when you're knoking em
down like we were, it
makes us think we are.
.
Ok, Ok...a not so great
last several minutes, but
what we showed for
three quarters of the
game says a lot about
us. I like the confidence,
the maturity and the
experience. I think our
older guys can show
leadership and maturity
from their experience and
keep us from the downturn
we've gotten used to here
the last several years.

Torvik has been right, the odds makers have been wrong. Torvik believes Virginia, UNC, and Cuse are currently overrated, Virginia Tech underrated as of right now.

1-0 in the critical 4 game stretch. Torvik lines for the next 3 as of now.

UNC- + .5
Virginia- +1.3
Clemson -4.5

Win 1, we did decent in the 4 game stretch. Win 2, we erase a bad loss early on and did great. Win 3, we are talking about seed line and not about making any type of postseason. I still think UNC is the easiest of the 3 games regardless of the lines. And I am wary against Clemson because of our last 9 game losing streak against them.

All good points. As I
watch these teams, I
like UVA. The team I've
been commenting on is
Va Tech. I've seen them
three times on tv and
once in person (Barclay
Center). The team that
impressed me the most
last night was WF. I watched
that game, and WF really
handled Duke. Shame on
me for being surprised.
I shoulda realized after
what he did last year that
Forbes is damn good.

At the beginning of the year I thought the Acc was just really top heavy.
But looks like there may be just a bunch of decent teams
VT
Va
Miami
Duke
UNC
Wake
Clemson
Pitt
Nc State

I think those are the good to decent teams this year. I'm not sure about ND
But I know they'll probably beat us this year because that's how it works.
Bc, gtech, fsu, Louisville eh
It just seems hard to dominate in the modern Era.
We need Dior for guard depth.
I'm thinking as John as a freshman.
Hopefully he can figure something out.
Depth is critical for this team to get through this.

Virginia is good. They know how to win and have proven it time and time again. This year, they have won a lot of close games. But they will suffer some losses because of playing so many close games. That is one reason they are ranked lower on torvik's efficiency site and are barely top 25 right now accoring to torvik. We can beat them.

Virginia Tech looks tough. They have a stud in Sean Pedulla who is another fringe 3 star barely top 150 guard that their coach is turning into a star. Rodney Rice hasnt even played for them yet, a sharpshooter coming out of high school that played with Mintz in aau.

Torvik's analytics certainly
can produce results. I don't
have the time nor do I have
the inclination to cloud my
head with that. I do look at
stats, but for the most part
I go by the eye test, in other
words how do they look to
me. I've been pushing Iona
and Va Tech from the beginning
of the season on here. I've
seen them both in person
and on tv. Va Tech is proving
to be the real deal and Iona
out of the crappy MAAC
would IMO easily win the
A-10. They've already
knocked off two of em,
including the A-10's pre
season favorite St. Louis
by 22.

As far as Torvik's view of
UVA, I disagree, no biggie,
but I see em better than
his rating. As far as your
view of Va Tech, we
obviously agree.

Duke/UNC/UVa = IN

The 12 team league within a league:

VT = wonderful coach, IN

Miami = terrible NET (52) and SOS for being 12-1. Like Wake last year. They may need to go 13-7 like us.

Pitt = NET aint good at 69 but I'm glad÷ we're in the convo

NC State = 10-3 and ok NET (46). How?

I cant stress enough the importance of the next 2 games (assuming Syracuse stays where they are unless they move up)

We have 2 Quad 1 wins. We have a chance to pick up 2 more quad 1 wins in the next 2 games. There are a total of 2 teams in all of division 1 basketball with a minimum of 4 quad 1 wins, and that is Uconn and Kansas. We could have 4 quad 1 wins by winning the next 2 games. We would make a huge jump by winning the next 2 games in the NET.

"Miami is terrilble."? They
looked pretty good as
they beat UVA last night.
Also wins against Rutgers,
Providence, NC St, and
lowly Louisville say they're
not terrible. Will they win
the ACC? Of course not, but
they're not terrible IMO.

I agree. We have to win the next 2 games, both at home, to begin entering the national conversation and being taken seriously. If we split, there will be some whispers.

If we get just one of the next three then I’m pretty darn pleased. I’m not near setting my sights on the tournament yet. I’ve just become too tainted by let downs.

But if we take 2 of 3, I will begin to realistically entertain the thought.

I’m not really all that concerned with the let down in the last several minutes. First, I suspect our guys learned a lot from it. More so, we aren’t going to have many leads like that to lose going forward. Mostly, our guys will simply need to value every possession and execute during those stretches.

It's a good teaching moment
for Capel. I'll bet he's already
working on those late game
situations in practice. It's a
mature, experienced group
of guards out front that
will hopefully handle it better
next time.

As a small sidenote, X broke his foot and is likely lost for the season at Indiana. Also, I find this comment a bit interesting that I read on an Indiana message forum.

Does this sound familiar at all when X was at Pitt? Oh, the irony....

From an Indiana forum

"Well, everyone that wanted X kicked off the team back in the spring or anyone that wanted him benched now gets to see what the team looks like without him"

Well ... Boston College just beat Va Tech so who the hell knows this year.

You have to play the game and win the game. There are no league gimmes.
While I think that's basically
true, the question that comes
to mind is WHY?

Are most of these teams
equally good? How about,
are all these teams equally
bad?

So, VT loses to BC, Duke
loses to WF, and it goes on
and on. Transfers, the portal,
immediate eligibility, pay
for play, lack of program
continuity, etc etc. Any
other thoughts on this?

BC, Lou, and FSU are really bad. Duke @ Wake isnt really an upset. I would have picked Wake at home. VT losing a rando to a bad team isnt unprecedented. They're a bubble team. Those teams lose a few to bad teams.

True, but it seems to be an
epidemic this year compared
to other years.

As always, we're going to win a game or 2 that we have no business winning and we're going to lose a few that we should have won, some easily. It's just the nature of basketball. Just hoping we can somehow get to 18 total wins and be in the conversation for NIT.
