Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no more tiers or selection order.

If we assume 2 ACC teams (Clem and ND for bowl purposes) to CFP then you could be looking at:

This bowl lineup is terrible:

Gator - Louisville
Pop Tarts (Orlando) - Miami
Sun - SMU
Pinstripe - Pitt
Holiday - Syracuse
Mayo - NC or VA team. They have never selected a team outside of the Carolinas or Virginia. They did get stuck with BC once but that was because BC made the ACCCG so they werent allowed to fall past that bowl.

Then you have the Birmingham, Military, Fenway, and Gasparilla.

For that last couple of weeks the ESPN guys had us projected to the pop tart bowl. That would be a nice consolation to not making the playoff should it happen.

Trying to remember, Cal and Stanford are still eligible for the PAC-12 tie-ins this season?
Yes, I believe all of the Big 12 and ACC former P12 schools, plus OSU and WSU, are still part of the Pac 12 bowl tie in pool for this season. Maybe next year, too.

They have to hope that Miami goes to the CFP because if they dont, they are a lock for either the Pop Tarts or Gator

From an entertainment standpoint, the non-playoff bowls are all the same to me now. What's the difference if we play Oklahoma, minus 12 starters, in Florida or if we play Navy in Annapolis?

The game against Eastern Michigan was every bit as intriguing as the Peach Bowl. It's just opt-out roulette and depends on who plays.

The difference is nice weather. I'd sure as hell rather go to Orlando, FL than to Boston/NY/Birmingham/Annapolis to watch Pitt in a bowl game.

Annapolis wasn't too bad it was cold the year we went when Pitt played Navy but the town is pretty nice. Hotel was great had a good time. Plus, its a close drive I would go back. Just being around all the history.
