As many on here predicted,
the ACC so far looks weak.
Virginia was blitzed tonight
by Houston 67-47. Fla. State
lost to Florida the other
night. North Carolina has
played close games with
Brown and Charleston.
Furman beat Louisville.

I predicted many times that Virginia is not good. Maybe magical coaching can get them to middle bubble.

Its why I said we would 6-7 games with Horton and Sibande and maybe 9-10. Its also why I still think we win 2, maybe 3 ACC games. The league is terrible.

The league is as weak as
I've ever seen it. As far as
Pitt winning ACC games,
even in this weak league...
well, I need to see if we
can improve on yesterday's
first half against a poor
UNCW team.

Would have been a great year to have all of X Toney Champ Hugley Nike Horton Femi Will Mo Oladapo

The ACC as a whole is at a crossroads.

In hoops the days of being the best conference in the country are long gone. If you were ranking where it sits with the major hoops conferences, at the moment I’d probably say 4th just behind the B12 and just above the Big East, although the Gavitt Games are showing the Big East may have been a bit underrated preseason.

Football will live or die with Clemson. What Pickett is doing down on the North Shore is phenomenal but if Clemson is down it really doesn’t matter what the rest are doing at a national level.

Hoops was always the calling card but with Roy gone, K about to go, and Boeheim not far behind the league has lost or will lose a lot of its juice. Down years happen but the league as a whole needs to really pick it up

Im wondering if P5 schools will remain unbalanced for getting the good transfers or it'll be a carousel.
SEC i believe destroyed the ACC this year.
Will it flip from year to year???

I said this was going to happen a few years ago when the SEC gobbled up all the good coaches. Funny thing is I think Jamie would do really well with his defense/rebounding approach in this league

This possibly could have happened if Hugley didn't get involved in the car fiasco. Things could have been much better last season if Big John was there developing all season. He might have been enough inside to get that team to the tournament and also help them play as a team more. Maybe the seniors to be and Champ may have stayed as a result and we could have been set up for a nice year. What could have been...... oh, and we probably still have mintz's commitment and maybe a couple more. So close perhaps, and now we are miles away.

I agree we are miles away. I
do think Capel now knows
what he has, and now with
Burton and Oladapo he has
some experience to go with
Femi and Hugley. If he can
find a place for Gueye and
settle him down we can
improve and become more
competitive. I want to see
improvement and player
and team development.
That would be a good sign
for both Capel and the
program.

I'm trying to be somewhat
positive.

Agree. It is very hard to stay positive. I really was just hoping to see some good team basketball this year and the team playing for each other instead of for themselves. Without Horton and Nike, we lack talent and depth at guard, and it just seems pretty hopeless. As DT mentioned in his last dribbles this year we just need to watch and hope for improvement along the way. Having no recruits for next year is even more disturbing. For now, I am focusing on what is left of the football season, as it could be our best in many years.

SEC football money feeds into SEC basketball programs creating a long term stronger environment to bring in higher paid coaches
