Zone really undoes teams. Had a real opportunity with Illinois going out of the region. Gone now.
Buddy Boeheim is a lot better than people give him credit for. Some posters were baffled as to how Pitt could let him score a lot of points.
Nothing like watching Huggins looking down his bench and muttering stuff to his coaching staff.

SU lead almost the entire game and was clearly the better team today. Officiating had nothing to do with WV losing.

Yeah, the greasy mullet and biker beard is a charming look. Goes well with his physique. Imagine he’ll drink and eat the loss away.

It amazed me how little confidence WVU had at the end. The preps from Cuse looked as cocky and smug as could be. The WVU kids looked like they feared every shot they took.
You have to give credit to Boeheim. You have to play loose and play to win. The head coach sets the vibe for the team. Boeheim out coached Huggins.
SU definitely played loose and with a lot of confidence. I thought they were little shaky down the stretch though. Dolezaj had one cringeworthy turnover trying to break the press, and they really had trouble inbounding the ball and avoiding the trap. Buddy even missed a FT. It felt like SU was just holding on during the last couple minutes.

Boeheim is the same coach during the regular season as he is during the postseason. His personality doesn’t change and his sphincter doesn’t tighten up. His teams play loose during the postseason and his players play with confidence. The smiles and swagger of his players and the end results prove my point.
The coach can be wound up but still have his team loose. There's a difference.
I haven't watch that much basketball this season, but it looked to me like Houston can't shoot well but has great athleticism. It is possible that the 'Cuse will give them problems with the zone. The winner then has the winner of Loyola-Oregon State, could Boeheim be going final 4?
Wait, so you think that they sandbagged themselves onto the bubble and a very real chance that they weren't going to make the tournament, so just in case they did make it they could sneak up on some teams?
Yikes.
I think some coaches emphasize the tournament than conference, working on things even if it means a few more losses to be better prepared to make a run when it matters
