Borbely is a very good coach, but it is clear we aren’t pulling in the recruits or progressing in the run game.
I think we should look at Klemm who is the Steelers asst line coach. He was recruiter of the year at UCLA and another school before that. Would be an easy transition and we can also name him running game coordinator to give him more authority, especially since Whipple is more a passing game guy. He is still young and can recruit.

I wouldn’t say Borbs is a very good coach. Recruiting is a big part of the job for a college coach, and our OL has regressed in the run game. Klemm fits the profile as a good recruiter. If he wants to get back into college ball, then that is a good idea.

I mean Borbs has a long history of very good performance as a coach.

I saw Klemm was with the Steelers and and thought what a good fit that would be.

Fire Borbely, the whol problem wit he the O is the O line, run and pass blocking suck and this has been bad for the last 3 years

I think there is some room for criticism of Borbely but he really hasn't had much to work with. Morrisey has been bad this year. He's struggled the last two weeks. The middle of this line was to be its strength but oddly enough, the two tackles are playing better right now. The pass pro is actually adequate this year.

My biggest issue where the O-line is concerned is the scheme. I also question if Pickett is making the necessary reads sometimes. There were a couple of instances on Saturday where it was pretty obvious he wasn't identifying pressure and he couldn't have misread the one option play any worse.

I also can't imagine any circumstance where a guy gives up a professional gig to walk across the hallway and coach Pitt.

Yeah, the pass pro was pretty good Saturday. Several times they had a nice pocket for him, and instead of sliding or stepping up, he did his normal run backwards and to the right.

He did step up and run a few times for nice gains. The same play was there at least 3 or 4 other times and he chose to run backwards and to his right. That ruins a nice effort by your OT who ran his guy past you, and right where you end up running to.

Pickett seems a little quick to bail but in fairness to him, he's not accustom to having time. I also wonder if he's reading defenses right there are times he doesn't seem to react to an obvious blitz.

Here's the thing, the tackles seem to be doing a better job and it's showing in the pass pro. The problems with the run game are a bit more complex and everyone knows Pitt isn't going to line up and just push people off of the ball. It doesn't help that they run the same straight ahead plays in short yardage or that the RB's aren't breaking tackles. I don't know why Sibley has fallen out of favor since he got hurt but he has to be the strongest straight ahead runner in the room and he's not getting many carries.

Thank you!!! I just talked about the same thing in another post!

I have an idea, why don't I give up coaching for the Pittsburgh Steelers and join up with the Pitt panthers?
