Does anyone have information about what is going on with the AD's fan advisory committee (or whatever it is called)? Scott Barnes formed this committee a couple of months ago, but I haven't heard anything since then. Has anyone else heard anything?

The membership seemed a little skewed toward insiders and people within the athletic department. But I guess it is a decent cross-section. The important thing is that the AD wants to hear what the fans have to say. How novel is that?

I seem to remember the previous one wanting to hear from fans also, at least early on. That's how we got Sweet Caroline. There was also some sort of email survey I remember filling out. Again, this was sometime in 2008; I don't remember being sent one again.

I wonder if there is any chance that this committee will help get the script back.

I mentioned that I have several ideas that might potentially help, however no one has ever solicited me nor have I seen a notice for suggestions go out to our fan base. I hope they do ask the general alumni for suggestions. Perhaps this stems from selecting a politically correct panel in lieu of experienced knowledgeable alumni who have attended Pitt events over the years.

I think it was the committee who had the idea to offer students who stayed till the end of the game pepsi and chips.

I could very easily be wrong, pretty much just assume I am going into most matters, but I think this committee helped bring to light the reasons on why students left early which triggered more buses, at more locations, to get back to Oakland.. That's something.. It's a committee, not an extension of the athletic department.. Let's not act like this collection is going to be trail blazers here, reinventing the program with their novel ideas and power within the city..

The committee needs to get a Pittsburgh food truck game. If they can do the rib fest, then can do food trucks near the stadium.

Have you watched a game yet this year?
I watched the first eight games on TV and the Notre Dame game live. I guess the script returned to the helmits last year (although it was rolled out in a half-baked way), but it is not on the jerseys. Furthermore, when it is suggested that we return to the script, it is implied that we resume the uniform colors from the days when Pitt was fully into the script mode. So it is the whole nine yards I am asking about, not just the first three yards. If I am missing something here, I would appreciate knowing about it.

No. A color change is not implied in a "go to script" comment.

Seeing as to how that was about a half a dozen different variations on the color scheme I wonder which one you are referring to?

How many stories do there need to be in the media and how many times does the whole uniform thing have to be discussed here for people to rightly expect that Pitt fans at least know a little wee bit about what it going on?

The color scheme from the glory years of Dorsett and Marino. And you just can't stop with the snarky comments when someone is trying to ask a civil question, can you?

You started wondering if something would happen that not only actually happened months ago, but that has been talked about ad nauseam for those many months. The only proper response to someone who is a Pitt fan and yet at the same time so completely and utterly uninformed about a Pitt topic that they appear to care about is snark.

Or derision. I can go with that one if you'd like.

Even if the uniform color will not change back to what it was during the glory years, the script is still not completely back to what it was because it is not on the jerseys. So what "happened months ago" was only part of the package. I was asking about the rest of it. But this is the end of this discussion for me. Someone like you doesn't deserve any more of my time.

Script is coming back fully in the Spring, across all sports. This had nothing to do with the committee as it was announced well before they were formed. The reason block is still on the football unis & coaches gear is because the decision was made too late to change any of that for this season. To the best of my knowledge the color scheme is not expected to change though there are rumors of a possible throwback to be worn maybe once of year.

This can't be right. If something like that had happened then there would have been all sorts of stories about it in the paper, on television and on the web. It would have been a huge topic of discussion on the message boards. Pitt would have trumpeted the change on their Web site. And so on. If such a thing actually happened there is no way any Pitt fan could have missed it.

Except one, apparently.
