I dont always watch the NFL, but when I do, its the AFC North and as I watch these mediocre teams today fight for a chance to win a Super Bowl despite having 6 or 7 losses, I find it hilarious that the same set of fans from Pittsburgh think an AFC North title is some great accomplisment and a valid reason to go have a shot at a Super Bowl but an ACC Coastal Championship under similar circumstances is not. Even in threads discussing hypothetical 8 team playoffs, it seems like most "Pitt" fans dont think an 8-5 ACC Coastal Champ Pitt who pulls an upset in Charlotte would not deserve a bid.

The CFP has got to go to 8 teams. 5 conference champions + 3 wildcards. Play it completely outside the bowl system and keep all the money rather than sharing it with bowl games.

The Steelers and Ravens are quality organizations and make up half the division.

The Coastal doesn't have any elite programs.

The AFC North would be like the Coastal if every year all 4 North teams were competitive for the championship well into December and the winner regularly only had 9-10 wins and none of the champs ever won a game in the playoffs.

Elaborate please. I see a bunch of mediocre teams in both leagues, very little separation from top to bottom
Well, just looking at the champs, Baltimore went 10-6 with outside the division wins over the Chargers and Titans. They also stood toe to toe with the Saints and Chiefs. There are no bad losses on the resume
No one considers the Steelers mediocre. Underachieving perhaps, which is why so many are after Tomlins head, but not mediocre
Hard to judge Cleveland as every thing changed when they fired their coach
The Bengals are the only team I’d consider mediocre

All I’ll say about the Coastal is look how all the teams fared ooc. Pitt mostly got crushed and the only respectable win was Duke over Northwestern

Sure, maybe this season but the North built its rep by winning Super Bowls. The Coastal built its reputation by losing ACC championship games and bowls for almost a decade.

The league is designed for everybody to be 8-8. Divisional balance is what you should see..... not what you see in the AFC East.

You don't have balance in college, just mediocre teams outside of a top 5. Worst to first is VERY common in the NFL....15 times in the last 16 years.

Its worse... it's the Big Ten West!
you brought up the Big Ten West in a discussion about an ACC Coastal Division comparison? interesting when you consider the outcome of the last two games played by Miami...

It's a shame the Steelers underachieved, and I am not in the camp screaming to replace Tomlin but trying to explain it/ justify it by trying to pump the AFC North is folly. Show a trillion numbers all you want, but that's 4 ugly football teams this year.

You don't watch the NFL and by this post, it is obvious. Just a horrible take. Stick to analyzing the EPL. Seriously. There is no equivalence from the ACC North to the ACC Coastal. None.

4 mediocre teams, very little separating top and bottom. Where am I wrong? The AFC North is $hit just like the Coastal and Big Ten West.
