Afghanistan gas station

Need to sell mining rights under campus to Range Resources, tell em we'll give em naming rights if they "hook us up." This could trigger a "petroleum engineering" major, one that is long over due.. Two birds with one stone..

There are people on this board who think Pitt cannot afford a stadium. That is so false. Its 2015 and money is growing on trees.

Too Late. PSU has already sold their body, soul and principles to the shale gas czras. Their reward: $90 mil hockey arena. Marcellus Shale school paid for and staffed by the industry and the beat goes on. Much more on the way.

Why not just build right on top of Petersen Events Center? Nostalgic and practical.

hindsight being 20/20, a multi purpose venue for basketball and football would have been the best option.. Oh well.

What if that actually is the ultimate solution? Have basketball play at consol for two years and build a domed pitt stadium that houses 45000 for football and can be 15000 for basketball.

I'm confused. I didn't think that camels and donkeys used much gas.
they need gas to drive thru the barricades when they blow up market squares and embassys.. You ever try to ride a donkey thru a roadblock while having a bomb strapped to your back? Easier to fit a bomb in a trunk more than on a donkey's back..

Was discussed years ago. Elevate the best couple of Sections....18-19-20? Replace the benches (I remember the wooden slats!!) with seats. Do away with the track. Put a dome on the place. BB was just an afterthought back then, the intent was to help FB. Posvar probably axed that right away....too many $$$ problems. Right around the time we went public, I think. I'm not sure any formal drawings existed...just talk.

the track killed pitt stadium.. First row was about 300' from the sidelines.. Look at these newer college stadiums, the seats are right on the field..

Because the Carrier Dome is such a lovely edifice.
LOL, sarcasm noted.. Just thinking, with Oakland's lack or real estate, this was probably our only viable option.. All water under the bridge.. Maybe we would have done it better than Cuse? Maybe we would have constructed a beautiful venue that could have football, bball, offices, academic offices, student athletic facilities (racquet ball courts are a must).. WHo knows, why not?/

That was the original plan, to renovate Pitt stadium, make it a dome and play football and basketball there. And I could be wrong but I think I heard that the US is paying for that gas station

Actually, the branch of Stanford University that handles their investments/development owns far more shale resources in PA than any owned by any "not for profit" entity...including governments.

This would be great, maybe 50000 seats right where the old stadium was, more than enough room for it

We could get real fancy since some believe money isn't the problem and have a retractable roof. Only close roof for inclement weather

yes, in my fantasy, where a 3rd party contractor comes in and re-constructs the Pete into a multi sports venue, keeping the intimacy of a basketball venue but also adding a football field with 50k seats, all for a very reasonable price of course, funded by the good will of a major health care system in the area, with all of that a given, I would fully expect a retractable roof to let God's rays come in and bless us on sunny fall afternoons..
