After going 1-for-10 against NCSU.. JWF didn't attempt a shot tonight

He really didn’t play a ton. He got an early hook for what looked like 2 early defensive errors and in the second half he played some but was never in position to shoot.

When they came out for 2nd half warm ups he took the ball out of the rack, went to the three point line and put up a complete air ball. Literally missed everything.

FSU did their best JWF verses NCST impression last night.

To his credit, maybe something is off in his mechanics or mentally that needs some practice time to correct. It happens to everyone.

Side comment about Ellison, and I didn't get to watch the full game, but Malik must have the yips or completely lost confidence in his outside shot. I am surprised to see in the box score that he was 1-2 from 3 last night. On the series where he air balled the 3 in the final minutes on a shot that could have probably put the game away, he clearly was hesitant to shoot it, as he kicked out a wide-open shot the first time and then ended up having no choice but to shoot it when it got kicked back out to him as the shot clock was winding down.

I wonder how after a full year of nothing but practice, he's become so hesitant and such a low volume, low success 3PT shooter? Did his make look clean and confident? Man, it'd be nice if he was even a threat here in the next 6 weeks. I really expected him to be based on his SJU time.

I noticed agasint NC State that there was a hitch in his shot. As soon as the ball left his hands on his first shot, I said, "What was that?" It didn't look like his regular shot. We need him to make a few threes to stretch the defense out.

JWFs confidence is shot. Hopefully JC and company can work with him to regain his confidence. IMO he's seemed reluctant to shoot all season long. Hes had open looks and has passed on taking the shot. A shooter who hesitates is a shooter who is not confident in his shot. I think hes going to have to find other ways to contribute, such as the rebounds at the end of the game and the nice pass to brown until his shot comes back.

As far as Ellison, it shocks me to see a guy with such an ugly shot. He has no arc at all. Not sure how that happens with all the coaching and practice these kids get.
