Pitt fans finally get their beloved Pitt script back.

Unless I'm missing something, there hasn't been a single thread on the return of script on this message board.

I find that interesting when considering the frequency and vigor of pitt script discussion.

Are you suggesting that Pitt fans just like to complain? Nah, that can't be... They're just saving their positive responses until the colors change back and Pitt Stadium is rebuilt brick for brick.

an on campus stadium happens, pitt fans will be in heaven..

I think it's more likely that script fans are thinking that Pitt just made a commonsense solution and are expecting more success from competent leadership. Those who love to antagonize script fans however, are out in full force, since their chance to get attention is waning.

What sets Pitt apart from other urban schools is the partnership they have with their city's pro football team - The Pittsburgh Steelers. It is a unique recruiting tool that no other school offers. Other schools can offer big time attendance, but no one offers a state of the art facilities with a pro team. I think we should continue to embrace it....

Do they allow paupers in heaven?? Because we'd be in that financial condition paying for a half-billion joint w/o parking.

Plenty of threads last year when it was re-introduced on the football field.

Now that we have it, what's there to talk about? It's over. When you don't have it, but want it, that's when you flood the media to talk about it a lot to try o get it back.

It makes no sense to me the attitude of wanting to see all POSITIVE posts. if things are going really good, like you want them to, there's less to talk about. If things are bad you want to vent and talk about what needs fixed. There should always be more of that.

If your team wins the national championship, you should have less message board chatter, than if you suck, because your fat and satisfied.

yep, some (not all) people have posted daily, even hourly for years about something, then when it finally happened, they vanished.

Im confused here, they are vanished because we have the script back.. Why would they (we actually) still complain about something if the problem no longer exists??

That makes total sense, they got what they wanted, why keep talking about?
Yeah, im really missing something here.. If I have a leaky faucet and I am complaining about the drip. And I get a plumber and he fixes it, I probably wont complain about the drip anymore.. Kind of the same thing.. Is there a post that was deleted in this thread or something? It really makes no sense..

It came back last year for football. And in the end it most likely will be back for all.But it makes you scratch your head when they totally redesign the official website and you see nothing but block on it.I'm sure that can be a quick fix, but you would have thought if block was going totally away we wouldn't see it so prominently on the website.

But, when you have a faucet for 20 years that never leaked, do you praise how well its worked?
Or now complain about the toilet seat scratching?
What?? The leaky faucet symbolized the block Pitt/dino cat era.. The faucet being fixed is the script coming back. The script is back = the faucet being fixed.. We complained before but now it's back, no more complaints.. What is the scratchy toilet seat symbolizing??

I suspect that the conversation will now turn to the colors Pitt wears with many wanting to see a return to royal blue and mustard gold.

Personally, I miss our old colors. I think Navy blue and tan (er, Vegas Gold) is about as bland as it gets. However, I also think this move FINALLY meets those people half way on this issue and should quell a lot of potential discontent.

This is a very wise choice by the Pitt admin and I have no idea why anyone would be upset over something that is clearly going to be well received by the vast majority of Pitt fans? That is quite odd, to be frank.

The radical changes never should have been made in the first place and they clearly did not work or this issue would be long dead. The fact that it is still such a major issue for so many people conclusively demonstrates that point.

Do you think 18 years from now a sizeable number of Pitt fans will be demanding the block Pitt's or torch-cut Pitt's return? Yeah, me neither.

Pitt is very lucky that logo has any brand equity still left in it. They would be foolish to eschew this opportunity.

During every single national telecast this year you can count on at least one of the announcers mentioning the change back to script Pitt and enthusiastically endorsing it. That's a GOOD thing for Pitt and we are fortunate to have that in our arsenal.

The Subject Line of your post is incorrect. What you meant to say was " After Nearly Two Decades of Incompetence..."

Rivals still has the Pitt Block up on Recruiting Rankings and ACC!

Northwestern changed its Wildcat Logo and it is up without a problem.

The last few years with so many coaches and recruiting classes coming and going and then New Coaching Staffs changing systems.

Pitt had to deal with many changes and will continue with more changes with the Pitt Script, it is not mythical magic miracle just got rid of a Nebraskan Alumnus that is no longer appreciated at either place.

Pitt has survived many setbacks and rebuilding but will thrive again too!

I agree totally! The thing about the Navy & Vegas Gold is that it looks like Navy, ND too much. The lighter blue and the mustard nobody else has that, it's a good look, and I bet you'd increase the sale of Pitt gear for at least a couple years.

Actually Pitt fans have moved on from the script. Believe it or not, it might not seem like this, but some Pitt fans actually like to focus on everything Penn State. I know that is hard to believe, and there is little evidence of this on these boards, but I have it on good authority that PSU topics move the needle on these forums now.

What am I supposed to do now with all of my torch PITTSBURGH, DinoCat, Angry Seal, and arched PITT swag? Is the Heinz History Center accepting donations?

Sadly, this is true..

What? I'll still wear everything I own. The change won't effect that. At this point, I have nothing with the script on it. When the stuff starts to get more common, I will pick something up.

What I find interesting, is that the merchandise website you link to from this page has NOTHING with script as far as t shirts. Is it that hard to print a t shirt that it takes a year to get something out there?

What?....there are script Tshirts on both the Pete store site...and the Pitt Shop site.....what are you talking about?

Maybe Katz can use the past 20 years of Pitt athletics as a case study in how many ways you can screw up a fairly simple marketing project.

Can you post a link? the link at the top of this message board has only BLOCK gear.

I don't think so. I think they will simply be relics of the past. And when they replace the seats - which will probably happen within the next few years as that stadium is 15 years old - they will emblazon them with Pitt's traditional logo.
