Sterling Gibbs was a big offseason recruiting loss to our hated, old rival. He's plays a pretty decent swing G for the Huskies and would have solidified our backcourt, been a great complement to JRob and probably negated the Sterling Smith recruitment. Oh well...

There was a rumor going around that there was a quid pro quo to sign either or both of the younger two Gibbs. Ashton wanted a job here. Hire him and get two guards.

Personally, I'd have hired him in a minute to get his two brothers, but to be fair, Ashton's career didn't end well here and Sterling had the incident where he punched a guy last season at SHU.

And, we still had Heron and possibly Rowan coming at that point. Hindsight is 20/20.

Not hindsight - a lot of people including me were saying it was a no brainer to bring Ashton on as Director of Basketball Operations or a similar title to land his brothers.

If Heron and Rowan had come here it would have been the wrong move. Even though I would probably have made the move because I never believed Heron was coming here, It wasn't a no-brainer.

Once Slice left and Rowan headed to FL the lights were turned out.

fwiw, Gibbs can shoot 3s and FTs. But as a PG, he's slow with a bad handle and makes a ton of poor decisions. Also can't break a press.

I don't know, that seemed kind of smarmy to me

Not many teams lose a brother not once but twice and his younger brother as well. Especially someone that had as good of a career as Ashton did. Weird

Slice is a legend in his on mind.

Heron didn't follow him to St. John's did he? As his Dad said, "It's a business." He was going where the money was. Slice had no more chance of bringing Mustaha here than you did.
