Pitt wins 31-17

We rush for about 250 yards, and Voytik has a decent-on-paper game passing (150 yards, >65%) as he's able to hook up with Boyd a handful of times. Our front seven's new stunts & blitz schemes continue to create a lot of pressure in the opponent's backfield, finally resulting in either a sack-fumble or a badly thrown interception.

It will be easier for Pitt's D to prevent big plays for 3 reasons: 1) it will be in the 60's, not 80's & 90's, so guys shouldn't be dead tired by the 4th, 2) Reggie Mitchell should play in the 2nd half, 3) soggy field .... and a possible/hopeful 4) more Bam. That being said, there will likely still be a huge broken TD by the Zips since our D is still learning.

Even though I feel I will jinx Pitt by attending the game (was at Toledo) I think coaching makes the difference and we play solid. 21-10 Pitt

Akron’s D will stack the box and stop the run the best they can; I think we’ll find success running outside the tackles. Late in the game we will hopefully wear them down a bit to be able to run more north/south. Pitt’s offensively MUST answer the call tomorrow night. Last year Akron had an answer for just about everything Pitt offensively took to them. It’s my hope that our Defense causes some TOs to give us some short fields to work with and we win in the second half.Akron has a very experienced coaching staff and they'll be well prepared. I think we'll see a wrinkle or two offensively for the Panthers. I also believe many of our players will come out with a little chip on their shoulders here as Akron basically dominated a very ugly game last year.

Pitt 34-17. Boyd makes a difference, for sure, but defense is solid. Panthers play with emotion and intensity, not only for payback, but for James.
