Former Pitt OL Alex Officer is battling cancer, and his family set up a Go Fund Me campaign to try to raise $100,000 to help cover his medical costs, including chemotherapy.

The campaign started great, and raised $45,000 in a few days. But, now it is only averaging around $100 each two days in additional contributions. The latest total is $48,550.

We often say to recruits that if they come to Pitt, they will be Panthers for life. For that to be true, fans need to contribute to fund raisers like this one. I have contributed. If you haven’t, please do. Above is the link, which I hope works.

Maybe someone like Heather or Narduzzi could walk cross the practice facility and make the Steeler players aware of Alex's situation and ask them to help out if they can.

They could make up the short fall of $50,000 easily... Most of those guys have thousands of dollars in their pockets...

Sad to hear, but I no one is under any obligation to “donate” because he played football.
