I watched the game on Root last night. Was really surprised at the number of true athletes both teams had. These teams are a lot more than Pugh and Jeter. The Quip offensive line was very big and quick for their size. The Quip QB (another Jeter I believe) threw the deep pass very well and scrambled when needed. A small wide receiver caught several bombs that led to three touchdowns. BF on the other hand wasn't quite as good upfront but had several small scatbacks who were super quick - they turned small holes into big runs due to their quickness.

Pugh played tailback and DE. Johnny Sauer would have loved his "forward lean". He could move the pile. BF held him in check the first half but he wore them down like the Bus used to do in the second half. As a DE, I thought he was average at best. Really wasn't a disruptive force. If we recruited him as a linebacker, he will have to redshirt a year to learn the position. He has a good frame but looks like he could use a lot of time in the weight room. Jeter played DE and TE. I had similar thoughts about him. The Quips pretty much negated him on both sides of the ball and he needs time in the weight room. Certainly no thoughts of an Aaron Donald type player at this time for either of these guys.

One thing I noticed was that the Quip coaches used no headphones. None. Is this a $$$ thing? Albeit, they put a ton of talent out there and did very well last night.

Hail to Pitt!
