All of you who are so traumatized…

With Hugley and/or Capel gone, Barnes will never step foot on campus. Meaning we have absolutely zero out there…as if that’s something new 🙄

Barnes was not committed to Pitt. The reason for the verbal was to breathe a little air into the lifeless corpse that is Jeff Capel.

You dont know that. Do u?
You're assuming everyone stays.
Thats not going to happen.

How many times do I have to say that if Capel loses good players, he is gone so there is no need to discuss "what if's" regarding his roster next season. He has to return his best players or he's gone. For the purpose of message board debate, I am assuming he is returning them because if he doesn't, there's no need for debate. He's gone.

There are only 2 potential “good players” that can return. Mo is out of eligibility.

Good thing you aren't an athletic director, considering the only thing you think about is what players are coming back. Not the empty pete, lost ancillary costs, and so forth.

The Pete is going to be empty next year regardless. No one is buying tickets to watch Pitt go 3-17 with a team of all new players playing for a coach no one ever heard of. Which is one reason I say, save the $3 million and see if Hugley and Co. can win some games next year.

You dont even know the coach so again, you just make a bunch of assumptions not even based in reality.

They can’t win games now and lose Mo. What makes you think 1 or 2 transfers are going to turn them into a good team?

If its a MM coach, no one is coming. I promise you that. Honestly, no one is coming back until the team is Top 25ish. People are done with Pitt basketball. If they hire Pitino or Buzz, that's a different story

Idk how hard it is for you to realize that they are going to need a new coach either this year or next year. So if we stink with Capel next year, that’s just ANOTHER year we’re losing money and fans. Having a new coach next year speeds up the timeline

I realize this. However, keeping Capel one more year does 3 things:

1. Saves $3 million

2. Doesn't look as bad to prospective coaches considering Pitt as Heather extending a guy after Year 2 and firing him 3 years later with 5 years left on his contract after 2 Covid years.

3. Gives Pitt the best chance to win games next season. I truly believe that a lineup of:

PG - transfer
SG - Burton
SF - Odukale
PF - transfer
C - Hugley

6th/7th - Horton/Sibande has a chance to make the NCAAT if we can land Burton/Gueye type transfers and the other guys improve.

The MM coach speeds up the timeline but we would be terrible next season. I need some hope. I cant do another rebuild. Another hopeless season. Gibe me Hugley and Co. and I feel the team has a chance. I need that as a fan.

It doesn’t look bad, it makes it look like you want to win and don’t accept extreme underperformance, any coach respects that. They know if they don’t perform they don’t deserve to have a job. And also we will not have any chance at a NCAA Tournament bid even if we bring back the entire team.
