All the so called recruiting experts

Who want you to pay for information and they cant even find out who committed to Pitt 24 hours ago.
Pretty funny
Chris posted he knows, but is not releasing the information to honor the recruit's request to announce it on his own terms.
What is funny about that?
HCPN simply tweeted that he bagged another one. He is under no obligation to divulge the information, and frankly would probably violate some NCAA rule if he did!

If it can't be released.... then no "Pat Signal" should have gone up, and nobody "in the know" should've tweeted about it.

Putting out tweets saying "we have a secret, but we aren't telling" was stupid. If they can't tell, then they shouldn't have said anything at all.

The OP is right. If you can't give out information that you have to your paying customers, then you shouldn't let the paying customers know you have the information.

maybe someone knows, maybe nobody knows. if not today, we won't find out for a few more days at least.

who knows, maybe somebody jumped the gun and there is nobody.

I respect all that know and will not divulge out of trust! We will know soon enough.
I agree with that. And I have no problem with it.

The problem is that "all that know" shouldn't have said anything at all. Especially those that run sites in which people pay to get inside information. I you have inside information and you let your customers KNOW you have inside information, and you don't release that information.... it's bad for business. Would've been better off not giving any hints at all.

I'm just hoping if the kid doesn't want to announce right now, that he's a big name recruit!

Here are the possibilities:

He wants to speak to the school he committed to before announcing. That shouldn't take too much time, so I'll rule that out. If that's the case, I would guess Shaw, Deveaux, or Mark Gilbert.

Here is what might take awhile:

- He wants to complete all of his visits before he announces.
- He wants to make the announcement at a certain time and place or with another player

- He wants to announce closer to LOI day due to the fact that he will receive some vitriol from the coaches and fan base he's spurning... Maybe he doesn't want to be harassed until February...

A poster on another thread, can't remember who or which one, said it isn't Gilbert. Sounded credible and I think Gilbert is as close to a lock as there is to Pitt.

All valid points as to why this could take a while. The visits to other schools though is another reason I don't think it's Gilbert. I really do think there's a very, very slim chance he goes anywhere other than Pitt, whether he visits somewhere else or not. These kids are under a lot of pressure, nothing that says you can't have it made up in your mind where you're going, or even as far as Miles Sanders committing to PSU, and still visit other schools, or at least keep the door open.

When are you coming out of the closet, you told me you were announcing it to the message board on Thanksgiving? Oops, did I just reveal something I wasn't suppose to? I know you told me to wait until you were ready, but I didn't think it was a problem to tell others. Was I not suppose to do that?

If the kid wants to wait that awsome, i think narduzzi should then hokd off the pat signal untill the kid anounces.

From what u saw on twitter, rumor is we will know friday. Do kids anounce at wpial championship games?

Honestly...the funny thing is, people who pay 120 bucks a year for premium info don't know anymore than those who pay 0 do.

The only thing I've seen that I know for sure is that Gilbert is waiting and talking with family. I think he will end up at Pitt, but that is known right now as well as this latest PAT signal was not for Gilbert. Whoever it was for, he is committed to Pitt already he just does not want to make a public announcement yet. Prospect X... Welcome to Pitt!

I agree with this. If you have nothing to report, why would you call attention to that fact?

Truthfully, Pitt is who messed up this one. If the kid gave a silent verbal, Pitt should have respected it and waited a few days to announce it. Once they did what they did, everyone else basically had to follow suit or risk being scooped or being perceived as being out of the loop.

There have been a few "pat signal" gaffes this year.

Don't think Sanders has flipped or will flip. Seems like his family wants him to go to PSU and it seems like he wants to as well.

iN No way implying true. My nephew is a student at Woody High. He text me today and said rumors all over the place at school. TIFWIW (JUST A RUMOR) *NO INSIDER

I think he is leaning towards Penn State now more than even when he originally committed. However I have heard nothing from him personally to back this up. The only thing certain is his parents most definitely want him to go to PSU, whether that be just to honor his original commitment or some other possibly stranger reason.

His choice, their decision. Good Luck either way.
Pitt will be fine. RB is one position where we've done quite well, historically and recently. A lot of Pitt RB's have made a ton of $$$ in the NFL. Seems to work out pretty well for both parties.

See this why I won't pay for "inside" info.

The publishers loyalty lies not with their paying customers but with somebody that won't matter to them 5 seconds after it is announced.

Of course I also realize that the "premium " info will be public 5 seconds after it is announced.

Don't pay for women, drinks, or recruiting services and never will!

Women are generous with their time and ethical and spiritual superior to men, only need to know when you meet one!

Don't drink so I don't pay for any!

And I have the Posters on the Lair to learn about the most important recruits I care about, and that is at Pitt!

Cant sign until Feb. so waiting to find out is no big deal. (I am curious)

Hey look it's "Letstalkaboutnextyear" from TOS.

Paris Ford's verbal shut down your idiocy over there and now this the best you've got? LMAO.

If you're going to troll at least be creative.

Really what difference does it make if you find out today or next week? The important thing is if the kid is a good recruit that he comes aboard.

by putting up a Pat signal, and saying there is a commit coming, but not telling who, has generated a ton of interest.

it has a lot of speculation a lot bit**ing. I like it. I hope nobody is losing sleep because they have to wait to see who it is.

I am with U Pitt '89 on this, bush league move in my opinion. Is it the end of the world? No, will I quit going to games, no. Just diminishes the pat signal gesture in my mind. You ring a bell and don't feed the dog, well then the dog will quit salivating.

it has generated a lot of interest according to who? in the grand scheme of how things, how does this help the program?

Why do you assume that a Pat Signal wasn't discussed with the recruit?

Tell me how that would've worked? Why would a kid OK a Pat signal but then ask them to wait a few days to announce it? That doesn't make any sense.
